I have seen a decrease in fly population with this product over the last 3 years. I attribute it to the diatomaceous clay in it. It seems to work better if you keep the horse on a full scoop 1x/day and start before spring and end in the fall. I’ve got 2 horses on it with good results.

Nothing will stop all insect bites, especially black flies, but this product does work if used religiously at 1 full scoop every day beginning early April. I also use a feed-thru product and keep the stalls and surrounding area clear of manure to help minimize flies. I find control of biting flies is really a combined effort of all of the above.

I have used this for 2 summers now (this is my 3rd)- my neighbor joined me last year on my recommendation and we both have had the same positive experience. It's not that the flies will not bite at all, it is just quite a bit better. I have a stream and a wetland area in our fields and the horses (in day, out night) were eaten alive w/fly sheets, spray, and masks. As long as I start early, this stuff really makes them more comfortable - I don't spray or fly sheet in the evening anymore and none of them (5 horses) lose shoes from stamping or seem otherwise aggravated. Worthwhile.

I started using this product because I have a mare that suffers terribly from Summer Itch. I started early (March) and she is so much better this Summer than any other year. The bonus is the detamacius earth, which keep the flies from reproducing in the manuer. I am down to 1/2 a scoop a day, I have no biting flies on the horses, the only time they get sprayed is at night, and that is to keep the mosquitos away. I can honestly say that I have very few flies around the barn. I think this is a great product, and I am usually a skeptic.

I have been using this product for 3 months now and my horses get 2 full scoops a day. They still have some flies on their legs, but the ones that land on their face, ears, eyes, neck and back don't bite! 1 full scoop 1X a day is just not enough for our humid, wetland, Michigan areas. I highly recommend this product, but the doseage needs to be doubled for good results.

I was so sure this was just like all other products that claim to work and don't...was I ever wrong. I got a late start (June) giving my 3 mares Bug Check but within 2 weeks I could see a huge difference in how many flies are around and actually were biting. My friend who does not use this and lives a mile away has thousands of flies on her horses. Great non-toxic way to deal. I also use fly bait around the barn and fly strips. so far so good.

Greatly reduced the biting flies and insects as well as flies in manure. Bonus is that their coat and general health seems to improve. Flies are terrible here in summer and used to soak them daily with some type of spray and that didn't always help, now I seldom use spray at all. have one mare that is alergic to bites, is always scratching and raw no matter what. This year she looks great. I have found that if you add a little extra garlic powder to the mix it helps to deter the biting insects.
