Generally, batteries and spray last about a month. I have used this product for 3 years in my mare motel and noticed a considerable deminished fly population in the barn and around the horses.

We have used everything under the sun for fly control, including ordering those "good" bugs after no success with anything we tried this product. We have 2 sprayers in our barn and the difference is amazing. The flies are very minimal which amazing since they were extremely bad and nothing else worked. We are getting 2 more so we have one in each stall.

There is no way to tell when your D batteries have run out other than to sit and watch for 15 minutes and see if it sprays. And they do run out.
It's also not easy to see if the spray has run out, but you can schedule that on a calendar.
Climbing on a ladder every month to refill it is annoying.
However, the horses seem to love it. I never saw them in the run in shed before I got one of these. The first broke so I got a second. My husband fixed the first, so now two are running. I don't see any bugs in the barn.
And it doesn't seem to affect the baby birds nesting all over at all so far. Our shed has an open front, so maybe the fresh air helps?
I'm thinking about getting another one for my deck!
