Gnats are starting so I just got a Defender fly mask with ears for my mare. I'm very pleased with the quality. It's already been through the washing machine, and it came out like new. The mask is adjustable and secure (2 stickum strips under the chin), and the ears are soft and flexible so Jo doesn't give me a ration about wearing it. And the teal/tan plaid is attractive.

This year we are inundated with gnats. I always buy a bunch of these fly masks. They are tough and usually last at least one full season (March thru Oct). Even when my "boys" start tearing them off each other's heads; they generally withstand the abuse. That's not to say the ear pieces don't get ripped off early in the season, but no product could withstand the amount of torture my six horses can mete out. Defender masks are excellent products, and I highly recommend them. OH! One thing I learned... don't use fabric softener. It takes the "stiffness" out of the mesh, allowing the material to lie up against your horse's eyes.

I have 3 horses and it is funny to see how they all fit but the fly masks fit them all well and they are easy to ge on and off, and they match the fly rugs that the horses wear aswell (thats a plus). They are excellent and i will definately be buying more things from the catalog and the website!!!!

Good design for fly mask, but the netting matieral used for the ears, is flimsey, and tore the first day I put it on my horse. The mask is make with good tough material. No point in paying the additional money for the mask with ear protection, because the ear material will not last for very long.
