I have come to use Equispot as a yearly help against pests for our horses here in Montana where we have ticks in the spring and it really works like it says for all the pests it names. It is easy to use, I put some on a rag and use a ziploc bag to protect my hand to rub on the horse's stomachs.

As far as I'm concerned, there is no one miracle product that is going to completely rid horses of all the irritating bugs waiting to pounce on their tender skin. Honestly, my main concern is ticks and I haven't paid very close attention to how this product works against all the other various insects it claims to repel. It definitely works against the ticks though, and after rubbing on my horse's belly after a midge "attack" it seems to have prevented new problem areas. I think it's kept some flies away from his face prior to him wearing his fly mask too. I am in KY and apply every three weeks and it gets the job done. Hope it does for you too!

I've used this product for several years! As long as you apply every 14 days as it instructs you to, it works amazingly. For horses with no-seeum allergies, this is worth it's weight in gold! I can actually tell when I've missed the 2 week time period and the flies on my horses remind me that Equi-spot is due. Don't waste your money on other brands, this is THE ONE!

I used this product according to directions and it was useless against flies. It also discolored the areas where it was applied.

I have a horse that doesn't like fly spray, and spot-on products are perfect for her. I use fly sprays on my other horse, and both of them are pest-free. I have a lot of deer that roam the fields next to the pasture and the house, and ticks do not bother the horses as long as I use fly spray every 7 days on one and spot-on every 14 days on the other (I rotate products for maximum effect during the season because pests adapt so quickly here). In fact, when I'm near the horses, gnats and other pests aren't on me. Gnats and flies will show up outside the pasture. The products I use actually have helped cut down and almost prevent pests from their pastures.

I started using Equispot last yr. on a few horses. I have a Clyde w/allergies to "no see-um gnats and thought it would help him since he runs away when I come w/fly spray. I did notice a difference in a smaller amount of irritation from his allergies. This yr. I acquired a black bay Standardbred who is a face fly magnet. I used it on him and 2 bay colored boarded horses. It seems to work for about a week, then the flies start coming back, but not as many and not as vicious. The orange dispensers are hard to see how much solution is left while using it and makes it hard to tell how to dispense it. Buying it from Country Supply makes it somewhat affordable, but it is still a bit expensive for treating a whole herd. If it lasted a whole 2 weeks, it would be a better value for the money.

I moved my horse to a ranch where I am only able to go on weekends, so the regular applications of fly spray I used to use were no longer possible. While this is not the end of flies, it definitely does help deter them. I use it every other weekend, and when I missed one time I could really see the difference it had been making. I apply some to his belly, too, which is easy if you snip the applicator tip and do the belly first, while the tube is still full enough to apply with the tube upright.
