This sheet is great for keeping my horse cool and protecting his coat from the sun, but the material of the mesh panels is not very durable. I put the sheet on my horse for the first time and watched him walk through the gate and tear it right after. His previous fly sheet survived a year and a half without being torn. I do not recommend this sheet if your horse is by anything that will catch on the material.

I really love how long the neck part is. It covers my mares neck all the way. I do not like the fishnet part of the sheet. My mare riped her in a couple days of use. But she is good at finding places to wrip her sheets. It has held up the best out of the sheets I have bought this year. Wish it was a closed front and belly band.

As with other horse owners, my mare gets large welts over her body and neck. She seems to be more sensitive to flies and sprays as she gets older. This is the first time I ever bought a fly sheet. She has worn it for two weeks, 24/7. The sheet has large holes in it where the buckles have caught and torn through the mesh. There are many smaller holes in various locations where she has rubbed or rolled and gotten it caught or who knows what. The elastic on the leg straps has stretched out and I cannot shorten them any more, so I had to tie it in several knots to keep the straps from hanging past her hocks.
The neck cover has stayed in place well and does not have holes in it. The blanket has stayed put too, I just hope it doesn't completely disintegrate before the end of fly season.
Overall, this product has saved me the money I would have spent in useless sprays, her coat looks great, and she does not have any welts yet!

I like this blanket for a horse that is pretty quiet like my old mare, but I wouldn't recommend this for a 4 year old gelding who love love loves to play! Within in a day it tore. I guessing it went to the side when he rolled and he stepped on it to the point where he ripped it terribally. I'd say its not very durable for turnout.

Best Fly Sheet Yet, 11/1/2009

I have tried many, many fly sheets over the years, and this is the best yet. Fits very well on a wide variety of shapes & sizes. I put them on two of my stallions that love to run and play rough, and after an entire summer & fall they are still in excellent shape. Both are very sensitive to insect bites, and the sheets have made them much more comfortable. Being black, they can now go out during the day while protecting their coats from fading and staying fly free. They have rolled in mud, rubbed on trees etc with no problem. Blankets have been washed several times & come out fine. I also purchased a Saxon at the same time for a gelding. It ripped to pieces within 3 weeks. The fit on the saxon around the neck is so poorly designed that out of 20 horses, it barely was a passable fit on one. The cool coats are well designed and fit very well. My one complaint would be that the neck cover needs to have a firm 'stay' up the neck. Once the fabric gets soft, the neck cover does not stay up and slouches like a well worn gym sock. Still works, just rides a bit low. I plan to buy many more of these. If anyone has a problem with the mesh due to a horse being very destructive, go with the regular cool coat without the mesh. I find that the mesh is much cooler for the horses in our high humidity climate.

This is by far the most practical fly sheet ever! I have a Rocky Mt. mare and my husband has a mostly black overo Paint. Not only does this keep flys off, but it also keeps the dark horses very cool and comfortable, even when we camp in areas with little or no shade. I would imagine it helps the coat to prevent sun bleaching, but that was not our goal when we purchased. The only problem we had was that our little pony was terrified at first at the sight of our horses clad in these sheets! We had no problem with sizing, his horse wears a 75 and it was perfect, mine a 71-72. The 72 fits her well also.

Great sheet, held up well, even with my horses trying to rip them off of each other. so far no mane rubbing and their coat looks great. Fit could be better for blocky QH. these are cut for a more slender horse.

I love the longer neck on this sheet!, 5/5/2008

My paint mare is very sensitive to fly bites, and fly spray, so I was looking for a fly sheet that would help protect her neck, which gets eating raw by the flies. This sheet has a longer neck, and it stays in play very well without hooking it to a halter (which I will not leave on in the corral). She wears this sheet 24/7, and it has held up very well, and she has absolutely no rubs or bald spots. It keeps her coat clean, and unsunbleached. Her hair is shiny, and she is much happier without the fly attacks. Great product, I will be buying more.

I have a dark liver chestnut horse
who gets horrible welts from fly bits and his coat fades terribly in the hot So. Cal sun. With so many choices of fly sheets out there, I rolled the dice and bought this fly sheet and it's the best fly sheet I've ever purchased.
His coat is beautiful and the flies don't stand a chance. His coat has not faded at all, and he does not seem to sweat while wearing it because it's very lightweight.
Last week it was looking pretty dirty ,so I took it home and tossed it in the washing machine with a little soap and hot water. It came out looking BRAND NEW!!! and it dried quickly.
The extended neck cover is the best idea and keeps the mane smooth because the mane and tail areas are lined with a silky fabric and his mane and tail have never been more beautiful.
The sheet has adjustable belly and leg straps and does not shift around on my horse like other flysheets I've put on him.
My horse is pretty tough on his fly sheets and I have yet to have one to survive and entire summer, but this one is very durable and has not one rip or tear in it. It will easily last for a couple more summers.
Many of the horse's where I board are sporting this flysheet, I just can not reccomend it enough, It's the bomb!!!
