I've been disappointed so many times with masks, I honestly own every brand and style on the market. We have to have them full time on a couple of white faced, blue eyed horses. This mask was the most comfortable for two reasons:
1. no rub marks after several days. I check under every day as a habit from past masks wearing hair off and making tender spots. No hair loss from these on two different horses.
2. The horses don't rub these off, and I'm much happier not having to search the pasture for them. Doesn't that speak volumes?
I've spent 100's on masks, and I was getting so frustrated I was going to design and make my own awhile back. But now I happily plan to stick to this one until a better one comes along. They only come in black, but look really sharp, but for the function wouldn't care either way. They hold up well, just get a bit sun bleached after a few months. Velcro in perfect spots and holds well even when full of dirt, hair and hay/chaff build-up.

I buy this for my lease. I think she loved it when she actually had it on. The other mare wrecked it by itching. So if your horse is a fly mask itcher it might not last as long. I love it and will be buying another one for my first horse.

This fly mask has lasted the longest out of any of the others I've had on my horse. I've tried expensive Kensington to Weaver, and this is THE best. The nose is long, but doesn't go over the nostrils. The ears are a little large, but it didn't bother my horse. My gelding is an absolute fly mask Houdini and I'm always finding them buried in the paddock somewhere. But not with this mask! The material is different to others; it doesn't tear and is finer/softer. The only problem is around the eyes. If your horse has sensitive eyes, maybe stay away. The seams can sometimes touch the eyes if the mask is a little tight, and the eye drainage can make for some serious cleaning on the mask. It also had a lead rope attachment which is handy for catching the horse out in a paddock. Overall, this is my favorite fly mask and I would recommend this to anyone.

Design is good- I like the long nose, ear length, double velcro straps. However, this is the first summer and the ears started to come apart in the seams. I do not know if this is cheap quality or if my horse rubs his ears alot but I can not even sew it myself. Kind of disappointing that I have to keep buying fly masks.

I purchased this fly mask to try something different and liked the fact that you could see through it. After reading through the reviews, it seemed to be tough for the most part. This is NOT the case at all!
My horses are kept in a corral with access to a large sacrificial turn out area and then are let out in the pastures all day. In this type of environment, the mask does not hold up. The first day I had them on, two of my horses had snagged the fabric which had created runs and holes in the mask. Another horse had rolled and unlike other masks, the dirt caked in the fine mesh and completely covered it. I also didn't really like the fit of the mask as it didn't seem to give their eyes as much room as other masks I have used.
I have used the Farnam SuperMask II Shimmer Fly Mask in the past and they have held up for two summers with some minor wear and tear and the dirt doesn't stick to them. I will be returning to the SuperMask II for sure. So, if you have horses that aren't in stalls, I would recommend not wasting your money on this mask.

I really liked the Absorbine UltraShield Fly Mask purchased last year. Darts for eyes in the right place. Material at forehead and ears soft and fit well. Newer model Ultrashield EX did not fit well, darts for eyes were way too high, so mask rubbed on eyes. When they changed the material for the forehead and ears, they did not account for no stretch.
Returned product, disappointed.
Would have continued to buy last year's model every year.

I have horses all breeds. This fits my paint at 1000# , my 1500# appoloosas, my running quarter horse and my standard gelding with no problems. The larger horses have no problems with the length of the ears, even though the paint has extra that just folds over. I love that the front comes down low on the front of the face. This is the best priced, easiest to see out of, and best coverage I have found. This is the only fly mask I have used that makes it through an entire summer without tears, even after lots of play time with the other horses.

It's ok, but with only on dart in the front center, it was on my horse's eyes. The flies also managed to get in, and I was constantly having to empty and re-put the mask on. It's basically not snug enough around the nose and I had to bring it in a bit.
The velcro is also coming off now. DO NOT leave the mask on in the rain, the small size of the mesh traps water, obscuring the horse's vision. The one plus though if you can get it too fit your horse, is that the material is super strong and is gnat proof.

My horses are pastured together and this is the only mask that allows the horses to see each others eyes. I do wish it came in white as black attracts horse flies and it should have an opening for the forelock. I have to cut a forelock hole for each new mask. Otherwise it is great.
