Product Summary:

The "G2" boot, which is sold in pairs, features a tread pattern that provides aggressive traction while eliminating pressure on sensitive internal hoof structures. While traction is extremely important, very aggressive traction can inhibit a horse’s natural way of going and can increase stress on joints, tendons and upper extremities. The G2 provides cushioning at the sole (the suspension system), while allowing the tread to “take hold” of the road or any other challenging surface. The G2 tread is rounded for a natural break-over, softening the hard miles that many horses travel in boots. The boot is shaped to be longer than wide which is an important feature that will allow your horses to wear the boots comfortably and securely.

Important Size Notes
 
 If your horse is between sizes, go to the larger size.
 
If you intend to use Old Mac’s G2's over metal shoes for transportation then you must take your measurements AFTER shoeing.

 If the WIDTH measurement exceeds the LENGTH by more than one size (an extremely short and wide foot) we do not recommend Old Mac's G2’s.  Old Mac’s Originals are more suitable for this hoof shape.

 If the LENGTH exceeds the WIDTH by more than one size (a very long and narrow foot), we do not recommend Old Mac's G2's. If the hoof is long and narrow, but fits within the size chart, inserts may be used. 

 Old Mac’s Inserts should ONLY be used:

• If the boot is slightly too wide, and you need a tighter fit

• For a club foot

• If one hoof is distinctly smaller than the other

Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Boots so far I have tried several boot types, but this is the one that lasts the longest and doesn't twist. The new Trail boot twists and is less durable. Pay the extra 50 bucks per pair to get boots that have lasted me 3 years so far. I am an occasional rider, but I ride some tough trails--through creeks and up mountains. Very rocky. Rated 4 out of 5 by A great boot! I find these boots to be awesome in dry and snowy weather. Even in occasional mud they always hold on. My only complaint is when one is consistently riding in muddy and wet conditions the canvas starts to stretch out of shape and once that starts happening the boot does not stay on as well. Right now I use mine for snow riding as they have awesome cleats (a pain to put on and even more of a pain to take off) If you use these to ride in the snow you MUST also use the gaiters otherwise the snow will accumulate behiond the pastern and turn to ice and then causing frictin burns and cuts... This will be the third winter I use these boots :) November 1, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love these boots! I put these boots on my horse and went on a 3 mile trail ride, up hills, through mud, peagravel. They worked great! stayed on, no slip, and no rubs on the horse at all. Good traction. They look like a pain to put on but theyr're really easy actually and fit nice! I'm thinking of getting a pair for the back feet. June 23, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by founder My horse had foundered in the past and was having a horrible time on the ice and hard dirt area in the pasture. We knew they boots weren't designed for pasture use but her feet were too damaged for shoeing so we thought we would test these boots out for turnout. Each morning we would put a thin layer of vet wrap over her heel bulbs to ensure they didn't get rubs. We made a small slit in the front of the vet wrap to ensure that the vet wrap wouldn't get tight and cut off circulation. She would wear the boots for 12 to 14 hours per day. We watched closely for rubs that she NEVER got. My mare loves her boots. They have held up. We don't have to use the boots very often anymore because her feet have strengthened however on bad days we still use them. They are a great quality and easy to put on. They clean easily. We don't use them when they are really muddy. She walks very well and thinks she can walk on any hard rocky surface. April 6, 2010
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great boots I wanted to save money on horseshoeing, and purchasing these boots was my solution. The problem was that I initially purchased Easy Boot Epic with the lever type closure system. They were awful--the closure kept coming open and they were so diffucult to put on that I found I did not ride! I sold all four for 100 dollars, and put that toward the Old Macs. One more try.... they are easy to put on and very durable. One of my horses gets a rubbed spot on the same foot each time I ride, but it is not bad. I recommend these boots. I also tried to fit the new Easy Boot Gloves, but they are geared to very specific hoof shapes. Glad I didn't waste money on those! January 1, 2010
