Excellent value to promote drinking and hydration

My older black horse needs the electrolytes because he does not drink enough water sometimes.

We have used this electrolyte for our horses for years. We mix it with their feed and they eat it with no issues. It seems to work well, we used it regularly in both a dessert environment and in east coast humidity.

Our youngest horse loves her salt lick. We will be adding it to her food to make sure she gets all she needs this summer.

what does Farnam Apple Elite Electrolyte add to a horse?
A shopper on Mar 16, 2015
Best Answer: It doesn't "add" anything to a horse... It is used in the prevention of colic and to hydrate horses. In the summer especially if you are working your horses they loose cell salts minerals and vital nutrients. The electrolytes replace what the horse has lost. Additionally it can cause the animal to drink more water to increase hydration. I also recommend keeping electrolyte paste on hand at all times and to give it to horses that are displaying the slightest sign of colic. If caught early enough you can save yourself a vet bit and maybe the life of your animals. I highly recommend this product for summer weather and if you are working your horse a lot in the winter as well.

can you make apple elite electrolyte in to a paste and give it orally ?
A shopper on Apr 27, 2014
Best Answer: You a an buy electrolyte paste just about anywhere. If you buy the powder just put it in with their grain/pellets or food. If you have a picky eater add applesauce or oil to any of those mixtures. That supplement sticks better and your horse will love especially the applesauce
