I have a 5 year old gelding that needed a bit of more weight. He is a very picky eater and I have found him to be extremely picky when it comes to powdered supplements. To get the weight he needed, I fed him a lot of this supplement. Though, found about half of it uneaten and untouch in his grain bin. I dropped him down to a maintence scoop to hair and coat and he still didn't completely eat it. For the pick eaters, try a pelleted supplement. Although Farnam Weight Builder put on 50 pounds to my gelding and completely changed his hair coat. From a shaggy looking light buckskin to a flat coated, golden and dappled out buckskin, he looks very sleek now. Even without the full amount of supplement being eaten every day. I think this is a great product to gain a couple pounds here and there, but not ideal for the picky eater or an extreme weight gain.

I have used this on several different horses over the years, it helps them gain weight and give them an amazing sheen to their coat. The horses readily eat it, even straight....they love it! Prevent founder from over feeding, use this product
TO THE TB PEOPLE.... IF THEY ARE HARD KEEPERS AND NOT GAINING WEIGHT.... CHECK YOUR HORSES FOR ULCERS!

It didn't do as great as i'd hoped (reading the past reviews) but there was DEFINENTLY an improvement, my mare lost alot of weight do to a surprise snowstorm, and now she just needs filling out on her spine and a little more on her butt. But this product definently did the trick, helped with her appetite too! thanks farnam!

My 9yr old OTTB gelding is a hard keeper and needed to gain some weight. I was really hoping this would help and was very happy to see that he would lick the bucket clean to get every last bit, However the "Weight Builder" did nothing for building. it did prevent weight loss but since there was no real improvement (not even in his coat) I won't be buying again.

I bought this for my 7yo TB mare. She's been thin since I bought her and I've been trying to fatten her up big time with no luck. I bought this thinking it would help (reading the past reviews) but it didn't. Not even a pound gained :( Waste of money for me.

Bought this product for a couple of my horses. I gave it to a 24 year old arabian who when we purchased her was nothing but skin and bones. The previous owner said it was extremely hard to keep any weight on her. We tried everything to get her to gain weight. When we found this, we used it for 3 months and she put on weight. She looks so great. I am amazed with this product. I used it on my belgian stallion. At fair, he won grand champion stallion.

I have a big 16.1hh mare who has a thin build. She looks great when shes fattened up, but unless you constantly feed her loads of grain, she drops weight and muscle quickly. This suppliment did wonders for her. Her coat looks great and she is starting to fill out on her back and chest. Two thumbs up!

I found this product first in H&R magazine. I inquired about it in my local feed store. They had not received any feedback from clients, good nor bad. Since it was relatively inexpensive, I give it a chance. I have a 18 y/o Quarter Horse that had lost significant muscle and weight. After getting over my heartbreak at his weight loss, I tried the weightbuilders. Unfortunately, I have seen no remarkable improvement in his weight. I have been using this product for over 2 weeks and see no difference. I am happy to read that reviewers have had a different experience.

I admit it, I have a favorite in my barn and it's my 17hh 19yo TB who is no easy keeper to start with. So when he just drops weight mid summer every year from fly/pest stomping it about kills me. He is regularly wormed, teeth done, health check, but the flies just make him burn calories like crazy - this year worse than ever. We feed free choice hay all year with beet pulp during winter to proactively fatten him up (which really makes him look like a QH with legs!) and he gets a supplementary feed mix 3x per day during June/July/Aug but to no avail this year, the flies were too much and he burned off all his winter weight by the month of July. We mixed 2 scoops of the Weight Builder with each of his regular summer supplementary feedings (Senior feed, calf manna pellets, oats, cracked corn, milk replacer and corn oil - these maintain but never add weight) In just 10 short days of mixing the Weight Builder with his feed his top line, tail head and ribs began to noticably fill in. His coat has a beautiful sheen, he does not seem so desparate and aggressive when eating feed now. This horse is in no way food motivated and does not like treats so we worried he would turn up his nose at the new powder in the mix but he really licks up the feed bowl, every crumb. I am so happy my beloved Shadow is beginning to look like the healthy, gracefull, sweet beauty he really is. Wished I had taken before and after photos - I mean WOW. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!
