If the grate is across the top, how do they reach the hay as it is eaten lower to the floor?
Shirley M on Jan 26, 2016
Best Answer: The grate is removed and inserted through a slot located along the top edge of the feeder. Once inserted, the grate actually rests on top of the hay and as the hay is eaten, the grate "floats" down on top of the remaining hay all the way to the bottom.

This is a great product ! I currently have 3, one of which I have had for about 3 years or more. My only complaint is that I wish there were an option for a grate with holes a bit smaller to help slow hay consumption even more for my chronic laminetic, EMS problem child, but as is, the slow feeder works well.

Is the rack actually POWDER COATED? Will this rust eventually if the hay has been sprayed with water to keep the dust down?
sally B on Nov 17, 2014
Best Answer: This item is made of Polyethylene and does have a 3 year limited warranty through the manufacture.
