holds up well after 1.5 years of frequent riding. Provides just enough padding for my gelding with narrow withers

I have a young horse with small withers now. Saddle is coming down on her neck. Keep having to stop and set saddle of her neck after going down a hill. does any one know if a saddle pad would help this problem ?
Shirlene O on Oct 21, 2014
Best Answer: Your best bet is to buy a saddle that fits. But you can try a whither shim pad, you can buy a cheap set for under $20 on they go on top of regular pad under the saddle. Keeps saddle off the neck, but worth trying for hills.

Best Answer: I have a 23 year old gelding that has a high back bone, high withers and low stomach also, I use this pad on him with my square skirt barrel saddle and it works great for him.

is this pad wool on the bottom? I really don't want it to be anything but wool bottom
cc c on Jun 22, 2015
Best Answer: Yes this pad is wool felt on the bottom as it is on the top with the gel in between. I have decided these pads are very heavy.

I have a 10 year old Full Arabian Mare. I ride trails in Arizona. What gel pad would be the best to use in the warm temps.?
Karen D on Apr 20, 2014
Best Answer: Hi Karen,
I bought the impact gel pad for trail riding. My horse is young and has high withers. I have only had it a few months, but I am very satisfied with it. Haven't been on trails yet, but it fits him well .
