This bit is my number one go-to during the high pressure of competition and is only used when I compete. Using a mild work bit for everyday use and switching to one only used for competition helps keeps the pressure points in the mouth responsive when adrenaline is high, and keeps my horse listening to me from the start to the finish line. It has a considerable amount of rate and stop influence on the horse because of the squared port and shank length. This bit features sweet iron. The port offers tongue relief and poll collection but enables me to lift a shoulder and engage the hip because the hinged three-part mouthpiece allows for independent rein action.
