Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 31 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Too Hot Sheet is very well made. Sheet runs big and likes to move back. Also doesn't provide any belly protection. For my mare, sheet was too hot. We are already up to 96+ degrees (105+ with the heat index, and our humidity is very high). I would still recommend sheet for cooler states and order smaller than normal. June 14, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by HAPPY HORSES! The sheet is wonderful. The neck wanted to slide down a little so I used the buckle on it to attach it to a fly mask and it worked great. It seems to run rather large in my opinion. The material seems extremely durable and of excellent quality. I hope it is cool enough for the hotter months because it is the best fly protection I have ever used to date. I bought the standard sheet as well and the best part is the shoulder lining that allows free movement. They wash very well too! June 9, 2010
Rated 4 out of 5 by good sheet for the price The only problem i have with the sheet is that it shifts sideways very easily. I will fix it and 10 minutes later it will move, so I wish it had 2 belly straps, or some how the belly strap went around the front legs because it tends to shift backwards too. However, it fits very true to size, and my mare is comfortable in the summer heat of 80 degrees. There also hasn't been a fly bite on her since I put it on her. She had horrible welts, and now is very comfortable. Upstate NY has HORRIBLE flies so I'm very impressed how my horse doesn't even have one bite. I also like the neck cover, it works really well and doesn't ride back too much. it gets dirty really easily but i just rinse it off with the hose everyday when i take it off her to ride. she rolls and plays and it hasn't torn yet. overall its a good investment for the price, like I said, I wish it wouldn't shift so much. great fly sheet

My horse became badly sunburned on his neck. I purchased my first one in July and it did such a wonderful job protecting him I wanted to be sure I had one ready for next year, or a back-up just in case.

I have a Grulla QH and she gets so hot and sweaty in the summer, hopefully this will help keep her cool.

Keeps my horse cool while protecting her from sun

Does it come with the neck piece? Does the neck piece stay in place even when the horse is grazing?
    A shopper on Jun 11, 2014
Best Answer: I only bought the sheet -- not the complete set with the detach-a-neck feature. I was concerned it might be too hot for our Texas summers -- already mid-90's. But I am very pleased with it and wish I had ordered the set with the neck piece. It can not be ordered separately. Even in mid-90's my horse has only developed small sweat spots where the fleece is on the withers and a little where it's lined on the shoulders.
It has really worked with the flies, been pretty durable with his rolling, and keeps him clean (a nice fringe benefit).

I've had trouble with some fly sheets rubbing the hair off my filly's chest. Has anyone had trouble with that problem with the Kool Coat sheet?
    Carolyn E on Jul 6, 2014
Best Answer: My AQH mare (14+2) had that problem but I started attaching the neck piece to the coat at the very front, then the neck piece to her halter also. This keeps the Kook Coat from working its way toward the rear and thus putting a lot of stress across her chest. BTW, I adjust the Kool Coat frequently raising up and moving it toward the front. Hope this helps -- wish thee were a better way.

is there belly protection, or does the sheet just hang down on sides? Hard to see in the picture
    Toni D on Apr 15, 2014
Best Answer: No, there is not belly protection. The netting of the sheet hangs on both sides. The fabric that is used seems to be a good quality fabric. I have not actually used the sheet yet to determine how the sheet withstands durability or how heavy the sheet is in hot weather.

is the sizing from center of chest to point of hip?
    nicole g on May 16, 2015
Best Answer: Stand your horse as square as possible. Measure from the center of the chest around the side of the body to the point of the horse's rump just before the tail. If your horse ends up measuring between sizes, choose the one closest to your measurement unless your horse is particularly big-bodied.
Measuring is usually best done with a helper and a soft or cloth measuring tape. Take the measurement twice to be sure.
