Why did you choose this? Store
Great blanket, not too heavy for summer days, I feel that it does run a bit large. Ordered a 72 and probably could have gone down a size and it fit perfect.

I have a Grulla QH and she gets so hot and sweaty in the summer, hopefully this will help keep her cool.

great fly sheet
NANCY M on Jun 10, 2015
My horse became badly sunburned on his neck. I purchased my first one in July and it did such a wonderful job protecting him I wanted to be sure I had one ready for next year, or a back-up just in case.

Does it come with the neck piece? Does the neck piece stay in place even when the horse is grazing?
A shopper on Jun 11, 2014
Best Answer: I only bought the sheet -- not the complete set with the detach-a-neck feature. I was concerned it might be too hot for our Texas summers -- already mid-90's. But I am very pleased with it and wish I had ordered the set with the neck piece. It can not be ordered separately. Even in mid-90's my horse has only developed small sweat spots where the fleece is on the withers and a little where it's lined on the shoulders.
It has really worked with the flies, been pretty durable with his rolling, and keeps him clean (a nice fringe benefit).

I've had trouble with some fly sheets rubbing the hair off my filly's chest. Has anyone had trouble with that problem with the Kool Coat sheet?
Carolyn E on Jul 6, 2014
Best Answer: My AQH mare (14+2) had that problem but I started attaching the neck piece to the coat at the very front, then the neck piece to her halter also. This keeps the Kook Coat from working its way toward the rear and thus putting a lot of stress across her chest. BTW, I adjust the Kool Coat frequently raising up and moving it toward the front. Hope this helps -- wish thee were a better way.

do you attach neck sheet to a halter to keep it on?
JULIE S on Jul 6, 2016
Best Answer: No - there is no need to. The neck cover tapers from base of neck at shoulders up to the throat latch. I love this fly sheet. It is more durable than most without being too heavy. Because of the solid material from ears to tail, horses stay much cleaner than with just having mesh on their backs. FYI: Also, I appreciate that my horse's manes are covered. Not only does the mane stay cleaner, but even my horse with a very long mane, can wear this for days without getting matts. Additionally, of course, having the mane covered also protects from sun fading.
Probably the only thing I "might" change about this product is to use a high-end velcro for under belly & neck clasps. I just think it would more comfortable for the horse to come on contact with that than the metal/plastic. I am curious to see how long the plastic buckles under the neck will last.
However, is truly the best fly sheet I have ever purchased.

Does this fit true to size, or does it run large/small?
Morgan B on Mar 26, 2015
Best Answer: I have 4 Quarter Horse mares ranging in size from 14.1h - 15.3h. I ordered 75" for all of them. It fits 15.3h perfectly, with plenty of room. It's a bit "roomy" for the the smallest mare, who is also very short backed, but ok. I ordered a 72" for her, as a back-up. It also fits all my mares, but with less bulk and slightly shorter over tail.

is there belly protection, or does the sheet just hang down on sides? Hard to see in the picture
Toni D on Apr 15, 2014
Best Answer: No, there is not belly protection. The netting of the sheet hangs on both sides. The fabric that is used seems to be a good quality fabric. I have not actually used the sheet yet to determine how the sheet withstands durability or how heavy the sheet is in hot weather.

is the sizing from center of chest to point of hip?
nicole g on May 16, 2015
Best Answer: Stand your horse as square as possible. Measure from the center of the chest around the side of the body to the point of the horse's rump just before the tail. If your horse ends up measuring between sizes, choose the one closest to your measurement unless your horse is particularly big-bodied.
Measuring is usually best done with a helper and a soft or cloth measuring tape. Take the measurement twice to be sure.
