Mustang Canvas Turnout Blanket

Original classic canvas turnout is made to be durable and tough with warm jersey lining is an inexpensive option to keep your horse warm and dry during the winter months.  All straps are double reinforced at wear points for longer blanket life.

  • 18oz Canvas Duck Material - Provides Heavy Material Strength and can withstand minor bites, rubs or pulls and is recommended for daily or continuous turnout for horses with access to run in shelter.
  • Jersey Liner Provides medium warmth with protection from Wind and Rain.
  • Water Resistant - Coated Canvas out shell with taped seams and seamless spine repels water to help keep your horse dry.
  • Breathable - Designed to allow moisture vapor to pass wick away from the horse and preventing sweating while retaining body heat and repelling outside coldness.
  • Heavy Nylon Binding - Double sewn to secure material and provide additional durability.
  • Reinforced Stress Points - Double Sewn with additional reinforcement to help prevent tears.
  • Contoured shoulders and Back- Provide a closer comfortable fit for your horse.
  • Double Buckle Front Closure – Feature rust resistant stainless steel hardware.
  • Single Front Surcingle with Two Rear Surcingles- Easy adjustability to ensure proper fit and easy on/off.

  • Measuring Instructions - Stand your horse as square as possible, measure from the center of chest around side of the body to the point of the horse's rump just before the tail. If you horse ends up measuring between sizes always round up to the next size to ensure full coverage.
  • Washing Instructions - Machine wash with cold water – Gentle cycle with mild detergent. Air Dry
  • Horses Turned Outside without Shelter - Turnout Sheet and Blanket materials are waterproof and designed to keep your horse dry, however if your horse is turned out in a field without a run in shed or shelter during prolonged rain or heavy downpours your horse may still get wet especially in the neck and tail areas.
  • When using a blanket or sheet it is critical to monitor the fluctuating climate and temperatures even with a blanket that is waterproof and breathable. The wicking properties of a breathable blanket are designed to wick away normal body heat, when a blanket is too heavy the heat and moisture cannot be wicked away fast enough causing your horse to sweat. The temperature and the length of your horse’s coat will determine what weight of blanket you should use. For this reason, most people who choose to blanket horses have several articles of horse clothing that offer varying levels of warmth.

Is this waterproof or water or water resistant? I see both in the description.
A shopper on Nov 1, 2014
Best Answer: I have this blanket on my TB mare who is turned out 24/7 but has a run-in if she so desires. It seems to be definitely water resistant and I like the soft lining against her coat for warmth. She hasn't stood out in a heavy pouring rain because she can use the shelter but I am very happy with the blanket.

water resistant and keep the horses warm?
A shopper on Nov 17, 2014
Best Answer: I just ordered two of these for my horses. They came a few days ago. they are heavy, well made and fit my horses well. they have not worn them in the rain yet but it says on the package that they are water resistant.
In my area, it doesn't get below freezing very often. my horses are stabeled at night, so they don't need something for extreme tempertures. Hope this answers your questions.

How do you measure your horse to make sure you order the right blanket?
Mary T on Nov 10, 2014
Best Answer: Measure your horse for the correct blanket size by following these easy guidelines:
1) Stand your horse square.
2) Place your measuring tape at the center of the chest.
3) Measure from the middle of the chest to the center of the tail one side. and that is the horse's blanket size.

Is this a winter blanket?
Motor on Aug 29, 2014
Best Answer: Hi Nicole, It will depend where you live and winter conditions. For my horse in CA this is a good blanket for late fall/early winter with night temperatures about 40-50 degrees and a normal hair coat (not body clipped). My horse is in an outside paddock and I blanket at night only. I hope this helps.
