This pad is very light weight, love the color, and the contoured padding works wonders with my high withered gelding. We were caught in a rain storm and it survived just fine, and actually dried very quickly as well as it did not absorb nearly as much water compared to my friends pad. Cleans up nice, and holds its shape.

Will this pad be good for my mare who is starting to become sway back a little just want her comfortable. If this one is not good can someone recommend one that will work for her please?

Best Answer: More than the pad itself what you need to look close at is your saddle. Depending on the level or severity of sway on your horse, what you want to look for and prevent is any gap or "bridge" of your saddle this happens when the pressure of your saddle is not evenly distributed at the middle of the back as at the withers and the last ribs. When the bridge happens it creates uneven pressure on the back of your horse. A shorter saddle along with combined saddle pads might relief the problem. You will definitely have to study what areas of your horses back are causing bridge and combine a regular saddle pad or the one you where looking at on here and a shorter pad that covers just the bridge or gap area to even it out. I personally do not believe there is one simply solution or product to treat your horse's condition, you will have to study on it and try filling in the gap as best you can. Hope this helped.

how thick is it?
courtneyyy_19 on Apr 19, 2015
Best Answer: I would say that it is about 1.25 inches thick. It works well under my saddle. The gullet doesn't sit on it as it would with real thick pads, as my horse has high withers. I bought it for something fun for dressing my horse up. Wouldn't recommend it for a long ride, as the horse does sweat a lot under it.
