Helps keep my horses sound and happy!

My 17 year old Arabian, Khopper, is starting to feel the effects of age and by using Cosequin ASU, he has more strength and vitality because he feels better during exercise.

I'm a first-time buyer of this product, but after administering at the 2-scoops=a=day level for going on the third week, I have not seen/heard any improvement in my horse's stiffness, snap, crackle, pop noises. I too, unknowingly purchased an out-dated container, this Spring, (I bought it in April, but the expiration date was in February!) & it does have the brown specs in it. When I took it back to the store, the purchaser for the business said that- and I quote-" it is still ok to use, it is a very stable product, but they have to put some kind of an experation date on it." I also had no luck in getting them to take it back. Now, after reading the comment posted by"trak" , I think my initial gut feeling is that the store was just trying to get rid of old stock was correct. I check the exp. dates very carefully, and always look for a container with the farthest one out from the purchase date on any perishable products i buy, but somehow ended up with this one :-(

So. the question is- what is the most typical timeline before seeing improvements after starting to feed the therapeutic level? I introduced this very slowly over a 2-week period, so she's actually been on this closer to four weeks now.

Best Answer: Hi Dianne, I am using this and have noticed a huge difference in my horse. However I started with a Legend injection to begin the lessening of the inflammation prior to starting this product. Also I used the loading dose for 3 weeks. When you say you started slowly, does that mean you did not use the loading dose? If not that may be the issue. Although if it was expired when purchased it absolutely does not have the same high success rate as when it is a more freshly packed product. I'd be very upset with the store you purchased from, and would recommend you get a new container and I would almost guarantee you'd have much better results. When recommended for my older gelding our vet did express concern to get fresh containers and not out of date ones. I hope this helps, and Good Luck!!

Can you give this to a dog? If so, which do you recommend and what is the dosage?
L R on Oct 23, 2015
Best Answer: I had a very large Great Dane who lived on this for the last 4 yrs of his life. I would give him a tea spoon a day & it really helped him. This was years ago, but now they do make Cosequin in a dog formula. I'm not sure if it's exactly the same as the horse formula.

Do you have larger sizes?
Debbie W on Jul 12, 2015
Best Answer: Hey Debbie, I just answered you question about the size of the Cosequin ASU and didn't realize the size you were talking about was so small. Guess I didn't know it came in this little of a container, so now I know whay you were asking. The one I normally get for my horses is 1320 grams and an 80 day supply, but wish it came larger than that. Sorry for the confusion. If you can get this larger size for under $139.00 per container, it's a real good deal. Have a good day.
