AWESOME!!!, 5/18/2010

Naomi Norris from

I didnt believe if it would really work. Im 13 and well not the strongest teenager ever. I bought this to help because all the horses I ride have the best time bucking. I bought and thought it was a waste of money... until i started using it. I saw improvements very fast and they were effective. Some equitment I dont have but that just gives me an excuss to run 1/2 mile to the local gym to use theirs. IT IS AWESOME AND IM SO GLAD I SPENT MY MONEY ON IT!!! I WOULD TOTALLY REMCOMMEND THIS TO YOU OR A FRIEND!!! IT IS THE #1 BOOK EVER!!!

Riders Fitness Program, 1/12/2009

Polly Kummel from Aiken, SC

This is a terrific workout Ive been recommending it for nonriders. Im 58, started using the book in the summer of 2007 when I needed a new workout and wanted to start riding again after twenty years away. I saw results immediately, and when I finally got back on a horse six months later, I wasnt screaming to be placed in traction the next day.

Riders Fitness Program, 4/13/2008

Patricia Brueckner from Acton, MA

I was brought up on the notion that you take up sports to get exercise. In fact, the opposite is true. Exercise enables us to maximize the grace, mental focus and strength we can bring, regardless of our innate talent, to any kind of athletic endeavor. That’s why I highly recommend this book. In the foreword, the author writes: “...I was an Olympian, and I had ridden umpteen horses a day every day since I started riding at age four – I didn’t believe working out could make such a difference to me. Then, injury struck, and my knee specialist told me I didn’t need an operation, I needed a proper exercise program...my body needed to be more ‘balanced.’” The book outlines a complete program of exercises to enhance balance, flexibility, strength, reflex independence and aerobic fitness. My learning curve is a little slower.I use it as an exercise “recipe” book: Browing and selecting to enhance stretching and weight resist routines already being practiced. For example, if you work on a leg press, try using one leg at a time and notice the asymmetry in your body strength. In other words, the book will benefit a wide audience from the sedentary weekend rider myself to the very advanced riders. After my last fall the horse just shied, and I ended up on my back on the ground, I realized I needed more conditioning. I started by doing only stretching exercises with my body prone on top of a heated gel pack. About a month later, I joined a gym. Then I learned that you are supposed to stretch after working out with the weights. This book supplies exercises that meet each of these contingencies. Finally, the layout of this book is particularly appealing. In addition to numbered instructions for performing the exercise, each routine is accompanied by photos of the exercise being performed, and in a majority of cases, a thumbnail sketch of a rider in order to illustrate how the exercise will benefit the equestrian. In closing, I loved Dianna Robin Dennis dedication: to our horses who love us when we are fit, and sometimes, tolerate us when we arent.
