Saxon 1200 Denier Standard Neck Turnout Sheet

For over 20 years Saxon® has provided quality sheets and blankets at a value price! Exclusive plaid designs are trimmed with coordinating binding to give your horse the look for less!

Saxon turnout sheets are available in multiple styles so you can choose more than one color to represent the type or warmth of blanket - taking the confusion out of trying to figure out which blanket to put on to keep your horse. It's now easier than ever to create your own blanket system!

  • 1200 Denier Rip Stop Polyester Outer Shell - Provides Heavy Material Strength and can withstand minor bites, rubs or pulls and is recommended for daily or continuous turnout for horses with access to run in shelter.
  • No Polyfill - Provides protection from Wind and Rain.
  • 210 Denier Oxford Lining - Prevents rubbing and helps to keep the coat shiny while preventing hair, shavings, and straw from sticking to the inside of the blanket.
  • Waterproof - Teflon® coated out shell with taped seams and seamless spine repels water to keep your horse dry.
  • Breathable - Designed to allow moisture vapor to wick away from the horse and preventing sweating while retaining body heat and repelling outside coldness.
  • Heavy Nylon Binding- Double sewn to secure material and provide additional durability.
  • Reinforced Stress Points- Double Sewn with additional reinforcement to help prevent tears.
  • Fleece Wither - Helps provide protection from rubbing.
  • Open Front Double Buckle Closure - Double buckle front straps featuring rust resistant stainless steel hardware.
  • Low Cross Adjustable Surcingles with T-Lock Fasteners - Easily adjustable to ensure proper fit and easy on/off.
  • Adjustable Web Leg Straps (Non Removable) – Web elastic construction to prevent stretching and helps to secure the blanket and prevent shifting from side to side.
  • Tail Cover - Double stitched tail cover ensures tail flap stays securely in place.
  • Name Tag - Included on the inside front left.

  • Measuring Instructions - Stand your horse as square as possible, measure from the center of chest around side of the body to the point of the horse's rump just before the tail. If you horse ends up measuring between sizes always round up to the next size to ensure full coverage.
  • Washing Instructions - Machine wash with cold water – Gentle cycle with mild detergent. Air Dry or Machine Dry/No Heat
  • Horses Turned Outside without Shelter - Turnout Sheet and Blanket materials are waterproof and designed to keep your horse dry, however if your horse is turned out in a field without a run in shed or shelter during prolonged rain or heavy downpours your horse may still get wet especially in the neck and tail areas.
When using a blanket or a sheet on your horse it is critical to monitor the fluctuating climate and temperatures even with a blanket that is waterproof and breathable. The wicking properties of a breathable blanket are designed to wick away normal body heat, when a blanket is too heavy the heat and moisture cannot be wicked away fast enough causing your horse to sweat. The temperature and the length of your horse’s coat will determine what weight of blanket you should use. For this reason, most people who choose to blanket horses have several articles of horse clothing that offer varying levels of warmth.

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 30 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very Durable I bought this almost a year ago for my 15.2 thoroughbred gelding. It caught my eye because it was plum colored and plum happens to be my horse's color. As is true for most Saxon blankets, the sides are not as long as I would like. Hint: If you have a very tall and/or big-bellied horse, I would probably choose a Weatherbeeta. I do like that the waterproofing has held up well and that the inside of the tail flap is coated with teflon, making manure very easy to brush off. Overall a good buy for the price. November 28, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great sheet! Bought this for the in between seasons we have here; to keep them dry when needed or clean. This sheet has yet to disappoint me and is living up to all of our standards. I would like to see Saxon lengthen the sheets so they drop a bit more below the belly. Its not too short though and these sheets fit both my TB and QH. Can't wait to get my heavier blankets by Saxon :-) September 7, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by LOVE THIS SHEET! I bought two of these to replace sheets for both my horses. I LOVE THEM! My horses stay dry and comfortably warm with these sheets. My QH is very tough on his sheets/blankets and this one holds up even against everything he throws at it. My TB has very long legs, so he looks as though he's wearing a "mini-skirt", but otherwise the sheet is perfect! June 1, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Works perfectly I bought this for my Haflinger gelding. In the winter my horse has an extremly heavy layer of fur. It rains a lot here, and is rarely below freezing. I had been looking for a rain coat for months but could not find anything that was sturdy enough and was without padding or insulation. I bought this and have been very pleased. The quality is great. He measured 74, but I got a 78 because he is so broad chested. I would definately recommend this product. March 23, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect Fit My horse "measures" 74" but the 81" sheet fits great on the second-to-tightest buckling! He's a 25 yo massive bulldog type horse. He isn't choked at the neck; all parts of the sheet stay put. This is my second Saxon, & I'll continue to buy this product. He doesn't even complain about wearing "old lady purple." February 20, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by poor product I've used blankets for years and never have I had such a poor blanket its not even 2 months old and has several tears in it. Its like the material is very old. Now I know why it was on sale!!! February 20, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love It I have a 14h palomino and this sheet is awesome and it looks great against his coloring. I use it to keep him warm at night when it gets below 40. Not thick at all, but don't need it to be in SoCal. Fit's him great, not too short, but he's kinda little. February 2, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by NOT WATERPROOF Definitely not waterproof. My horse was soaked both times we used it. I had to put on her thicker blanket just to dry her off. Durability is fine, but wouldn't use to keep a horse warm and dry. January 23, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fabulous Sheet: great value for the price! I love this sheet. The plaid color is really very attractive and doesn't show stains. The fabric is very substantial and sturdy. It does look a bit like a mini-skirt on my 17 hh Warmblood. But all Saxon's are a little short on the sides, especially if your horse has a hay belly. Someone asked about velcro, there is no velcro on this sheet. (But would be a great addition) This is not a heavy blanket, it has no fill, so don't buy it for warmth. It's a great waterproof windbreaker for windy, rainy early fall and late spring days or as a light blanket for nippier nights/trailering. I also layer this overtop of a non waterproof stable blanket for turn out at times. Can't beat the price when other name brand sheets are twice as much! November 8, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Turnout Blanket For The Price I have tried many brands, even much more expensive, over the years, but I am never disappointed by the quality, fit and durability of the the Saxon 1200 denier waterproof turnout blanket. I run a horse rescue, and every horse in my barn has one of these blankets. October 28, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by great buy bought this 2 yrs ago for my paso fino mare and its hads held up beautifully. no rips and good coverage. October 17, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Compares to pricey blankets I got the medium turnout blanket. Used it all last winter pretty much 24/7. No rips, tears, all hardware stayed in tact and the horse stayed dry. My horse size is an 84 and I ordered an 84. Fits perfect front to back. The only complaint I have is that it seems a bit short around the belly. But still kept her comfortable in extreme weather. Skinny or lean horses probably will be fine. Fat horses will just have a bit of air down the center of their bellies. Absolutely worth it for the price. October 4, 2011
Rated 3 out of 5 by saxon blanket I was unhappy with this blanket. Ripped the first year at the gusset area. I've had a blanket in the past that latest years ! October 3, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent blanket!! I bought this blanket about 3 years ago and the only issue I've had is the SAXON label has been half pulled off. I don't want to say ripped b/c the fabric didn't tear! I think they run a little big- I bought an 80" and it's a touch large. But over all- I love this blanket!! September 20, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome! The works good on my horse. I've had it on her and she seems comfortable in it! She's rolled in it and other than getting dirty nothing has happened to it yet. June 19, 2011
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not Durable This blanket is just not durable! It ripped after having it on for 2 days! We put repair patches on it, but after about 3 months, it has at least 7 holes in it and new ones are gradually forming. Both leg straps broke after 1 washing, and the front nylon straps are very worn and frayed. i've only had it for one winter.... i doubt that it will last another. May 1, 2011
Rated 3 out of 5 by Does it have velcro on the front? Does it have velcro on the front? April 20, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome- a must have!!!!! I have a thoroughbred with really thin skin and this blanket left no rub spots on her, and it was pouring rain today and she was dry and warm still! Only thing is she has a tough time lifting her tail in it. Its cute and is a great turnout. April 16, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Quality! Loved this sheet from the moment it arrived. Aside from being visually appealing, the 1200D seems to be holding up to 24/7 outside wear. Fits true to size, love the criss-cross surcingles and fleece withers. April 15, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent I bought this blanket with some fill in it for an all around blanket for california weather. My horse is really tough on blankets and the gelding he lives with loves to chew up anything I put on him. For the price, I was hoping this blanket would hold up for at least a few months, but I was very pleasantly surprised. For the price, this has been a great blanket that holds up to my goofy gelding. He wore it almost every day this season, no rips or tears, no rubs or bald spots, and it doesn't even shift and stays in place great. This is better quality for the price than many other blankets I have tried, I would definitely buy this brand again. March 16, 2011

Why did you choose this? Store
I chose this for the color, denier and name. Very good product. Very good price. I'm using it for the second season and it's fantastic. Has withstood a pasture mate that likes to grab blankets with his teeth and it's been great for protecting my horse in downpours.

With the wet, rainy winter we had, it was nice to have two blankets to change out when one became too dirty.

how do i mesure for size?
A shopper on Oct 2, 2014
Best Answer: 1) Stand your horse square.
2) Place your measuring tape at the center of the chest.
3) Lay the tape across the widest part of the shoulder and hip, at an angle towards the tail.
4) Go from the middle of the chest to the middle of the tail just one side and that measurement is the horse's blanket size.

Is this sheet waterproof? What weight is it? Is it lined?
A shopper on Apr 28, 2014
Best Answer: The Saxon 1200D Turnout sheet in purple plaid has been my go-to blanket. I own 3 and have friends who also use it. For the money this is the best blanket on the market. It is waterproof, it is lined, it is light wt without being flimsy. My horses were their blankets about 5 months out of the year. They are turned out together all day and stalled at night. My only complaint is the snaps on the hind leg straps are light wt. and get clogged with dirt. I attach a heavier snaps to the original and problem solve.

I need a blanket for weather between 29 to 40 degrees. Is this the right blanket? If not, wich one is?
Nicky on Feb 27, 2015
Best Answer: I live in the mountains of Southern California where our low temperature is sometimes between the 20s and 40s. My horses generally have a pretty nice thick coat during the winter months so this blanket works very well for them, keeping them warm and dry but no sweaty. The 1200 denier holds up very well
