Why did you choose this?

This stuff is the best for rain rot. Loosens the scabs so they come right off with less pain, soothing to the raw area and regrows hair quickly. I use it on hot spots on my dogs too.

Does this work for ringworm?
A shopper on May 3, 2014
Best Answer: I have only used Shapley's M-T-G for grooming and tail growth and it works great. However, as ringworm is caused by a fungus I believe it requires special antibiotics to kill it. The fungal spores live for many months and all grooming equipment, tack and stable or wood sufaces need to be thoroughly disinfected. Please consult your veterinarian for prompt treatment.

Why can't I spray it on ?
Abe A on Jan 9, 2016
Best Answer: Because it won't go through a sprayer without gumming it up after a couple of uses. Also, if you notice, you have to shake the bottle to mix the particulates in the bottle. Not a problem except that is what clogs the sprayer. I tried to use it as a spray (no one I know likes the smell of the product) but it ends up ruining spray bottles and is less efficient when applied that way.

I have a grey horse with scars/bald spots on his sides from bites from other horses. He also has a very thin mane and tail. Is this product safe for greys and will it help thicken his mane and tail and regrow those bald spots??
Samantha on Sep 22, 2014
Best Answer: I think this is a great product but initially I purchased the smaller size bottle just to try it. I was so pleased with the results after only 1 week that I decided to buy the quart size also. There is a caution on the bottle regarding sunburn and suggest the M-T-G be applied late afternoon or early evening especially to light colored horses. I have a bay standardbred gelding with what used to be a very sparse black tail. I could see his tailbone through the thin covering of hair. Since using this product as directed for tail growth his tail is much thicker and longer. Try the smaller size bottle and carefully read all the directions. It's definitely worth trying!
