Are the lacings plastic or leather?
justmesuzanne on Oct 20, 2014
Best Answer: Lacings are leather and help secure grip, especially with moisture from horses neck perspiration. We have purchased several times as these reins seem to be favorite among my family. Bob

Can this be split into split reins?
Kate T on Jul 14, 2015
Best Answer: Yes. I like the fact they are buckled together as I sometimes "drop" a rein. There won't be a lot of extra length if they are split so a horse could accidentally pull the "split" reins out of your hands. When they are looped, you have about 8" on each side extra for bigger horses. I have some barrel cotton loop reins and can't use them with my big boys as it makes me have too much pull on their mouths. These leather reins are what I'm using now.
