Is this grooming block good for thick winter coats when its time to shed?
Amnesty S on Mar 7, 2015
Best Answer: Quick answer is yes. I generally use a shedding blade to get a first bunch of hair and mud off, then use a rubber curry to massage the skin and get the oils to the hair for shine, then the SlickNEasy to really get the loose hair out, then conditioner that I brush the coat with. For a faster groom, you can use the SlickNEasy alone, but dried mud will tend to eat away at the brick if you haven't removed it with the shedding blade.

Does it work? How do you use it?

Best Answer: I've been using this grooming block for several years; it works very well to remove shedding horse hair. You just rub it on the coat and because the block is porous, it removes the loose hair (without hurting the horse, in fact they appear to like it). When the pores get "flattened" (for lack of a better description), you just rub the edges of the block against pipe corral or some other hard surface to provide a fresh surface. Eventually the block wears down during this process until it's so small, you need to use a new one. But they last a good long while and are a reasonable cost. I will continue to use.
