If you need weight on a horse this IS. The product. Even old horses you never thought would look good again can get a youthful healthy appearance with this stuff. It's amazing.

Has anyone ever used this for a very emaciated dog? Thanks
    O M on Mar 28, 2015
Best Answer: I've never used it for this purpose but have had remarkable success with it when using it in the diet of horses with similar body condition. Given the ingredients of the product, I wouldn't hesitate to use it on a dog especially if the alternative was almost certain death for the dog. The smell and flavor of the product may not be attractive to the dog so there may be a need to camouflage these things. I'd suggest some beef broth or perhaps working the Cool Calories powder into some quality canned dog food. As an added incentive for the dog, perhaps heating the concoction up a little bit might further stimulate the dog's desire to eat. Whatever you do, it is important to feed the dog slowly. Several small feedings are better than a few large feedings. After the dog shows an interest in eating several small meals over the course of the day, you can leave a small amount of dry food out and available for him/her, accessible at all times. Make sure he/she is de-wormed and gets LOTS of water. Good luck!

    Edie W on Mar 18, 2014
Best Answer: I would ask your vet, smartpak also has online consultants that could help you. I love this product, it's awesome, I would think that it would
Be fine to include in your feeding, but it's always good to consult your vet before adding anything to your horses diet

can you use cool calories on show cattle?
    doris g on Aug 23, 2014
Best Answer: I have no idea about using this with cattle. I use it in a mixture (that I fondly call "mush") I feed to my 35+ year old horse to help maintain his weight. It works great on him and is definitely more cost effective than using corn oil. Hope this helps.
