Specifications:

·         Measuring Instructions - Stand your horse as square as possible, measure from the center of chest around side of the body to the point of the horse's rump just before the tail. If you horse ends up measuring between sizes always round up to the next size to ensure full coverage.

·         Washing Instructions - Machine wash with cold water – Gentle cycle with mild detergent. Air Dry or Machine Dry/No Heat

·         Horses Turned Outside without Shelter - Turnout Sheet and Blanket materials are waterproof and designed to keep your horse dry, however if your horse is turned out in a field without a run in shed or shelter during prolonged rain or heavy downpours your horse may still get wet especially in the neck and tail areas.

·         When using a blanket or sheet it is critical to monitor the fluctuating climate and temperatures even with a blanket that is waterproof and breathable. The wicking properties of a breathable blanket are designed to wick away normal body heat, when a blanket is too heavy the heat and moisture cannot be wicked away fast enough causing your horse to sweat. The temperature and the length of your horse’s coat will determine what weight of blanket you should use. For this reason, most people who choose to blanket horses have several articles of horse clothing that offer varying levels of warmth.

·         When selecting a blanket ensure to take into account your horse’s behavior, environment or other horses that may be turned out with your horse. The lower the denier number the less strength the material has. 420 Denier and 600 Denier are not recommended for horses that bite, chew or rub on blankets or for horses turned out with a companion or in a group. Always ensure your horse’s blanket is properly fitted and all straps are adjusted correctly, if a blanket is too tight or too loose, straps may break and material may tear. For younger horses or horses turned out with a companion or in groups, it is recommended to purchase 1200 Denier or 1680 Denier material as these are stronger materials and are less likely to tear. Certain types of fencing such as barbwire or foreign objects such as nails will easily tear any blanket no matter what the denier,  always inspect the area in which your horse is kept to remove any nails or jagged fencing that may cause damage. There are no horse blankets that are guaranteed to not rip or tear.

Perfect!, 3/31/2013

Sage from Madison, WI

This spring I tried out 3 different blankets and this was the only one that actually fit my classic thoroughbred! He's very narrow and usually blankets just drown him causing rubs. This blanket shipped the very same day I ordered it. I can't comment much on anything else because I just put it on my horse today, but it seems good quality. This is a life saver!

Well worth it!, 3/26/2013

Very Happy Horse Owner from The Barn

This is an amazing blanket, before we started to get really bad weather we bought two of these blankets. They have kept our two boys dry and warm. The blankets are well made with safety in mind. I will defiantly be buying again for our next horse.

Veerrryyy Pleased!, 2/27/2013

Kerry from MI

I'm very happy with this blanket! I got it at the beginning of winter for my very thin skinned TB mare, and it fit like a charm. It kept her warm, without weighing her down. Last night when a big big winter storm that brought rain, sleet, and heavy snow for hours, I went to bring her into her stall. The top of her blanket looked pretty wet, so I thought she would be wet. I took her blanket off and she was warm, dry, and snug! I really like the shoulder velcro, since my mare has a thin neck. No rips from walking under trees and romping with other after wearing it for a couple months. Very happy!

Awesome Blanket, 2/11/2013

Kathy from Creston, CA

Finally, after more than 35 years of blanketing horses that run together and are turned out the TOUGH ONE is THE perfect blanket! All of the features are perfectly designed and executed in this blanket. I have 4 geldings that are turned out, oil field pipe fencing, together and they have a walk in shelter if they choose. The fabric is tough, wear and tear resistant, and these 4 geldings put their blankets to the test. It is waterproof. The higher adjustable neck fits perfectly without being constricting when the horse puts their head down. the surcingle straps are set in just the right spot so the blanket wraps around the horses sides adding additional warmth. We get about 6 to 8 weeks of 20 to 25 degree nights and the 300g is just what was needed by the senior horse and the thin skinned horse. Someone really put every thought into this blanket, the buckles are suspended on elastic before the webbing for added comfort. I am ordering 200g blankets for all 4 for the rest of the cold weather time. It there were a faulat it would be that they might run a teeny bit short. My thin skinned horse is usually a 78, which is what I ordered, and it sits about 4 inches away from his tail, which is no big deal. Thanks TOUGH ONE, this is the best blanket ever!

Tough1 Blanket, 2/5/2013

Mick from Sullivan, IN

I bought this for my 16.2H quarter horse and it does keep him quite warm. That part is good. But in the first week the 2 front snaps the clasp broke right off, very cheap snaps on this blanket. So I've gone ahead and replaced them all from ones from a hardware store and that part is fixed. Also the lining is kinda cheaply sewn. It's already falling apart on the inside. I'm not sure I'd really recommend this to anyone, my horse is very gentle and kinda on the lazy side so it's not like it's been roughed up any. Next year I'll just get a Weatherbeeta I've heard better reviews on them.

Amazing! , 1/14/2013

Tough-1 1200 Denier Snuggit Turnout Blanket from Brentwood, CA

I absolutely love this blanket - it fits wonderfully, love the adjustments as it stays put, excellent quality. My horse always looks very comfortable and moves with ease while wearing it. Just one request, can it be offered in a sheet...In CA, we don't always need that extra fill. Thanks! Great product! Will definitely tell a friend! :)

Tough 1 Mid-wt, 1/14/2013

Rebecca Baker from Elgin, Tx

I have a Swedish WB 17HH. Med/large bone. An 82" fits her, but, I ordered and 84" to give her more room incase I want to add a liner under it. True to size, roomy from "chest - buttock" BUT from "withers - chest" it is super tight. Tons of pressure over the withers. She cannot put her head to the ground to graze, without it binding deeply into her throat, it is too tight through the neck. I have waisted this purchase. I will not be buying this again. I also purchased one for my 18" month old Dutch WB gelding. Currently in the thin-gangly stage 15.3HH Med/Lg bone. Again ordered larger than needed hoping to get 2 winters out of it. It is snug in the neck area. Even if it is long enough front-back, it will not fit around his neck next year. The material seems very sturdy, and the Mid-weight is great for the 15 days of winter in Texas, only lived here 4 yrs, does not seem to get below 25 degrees. I do not body clip, they have naturally short coats. But I have now had to purchase a different brand, for the mare. I am so unhappy with this purchase it prompted me to write my first review, ever.

so far so good, 1/14/2013

kellygreen from il.

I purchased this blanket a couple of months ago for my 34 yr. arab mare. So far it has been great--she has rolled and it has stayed in place and seems very waterproof. She stays cozy underneath. I did have to exchange the 72 for a 69 and it fits perfect. No rips yet. My 1/4 mare does not bother her with it on. :)

Butters, 1/12/2013

Nancy M from Phoenix AZ

I bought this blanket online after reading all of the reviews. I do like the way it is made. However, after measuring my horse 3 times with help I bought a 78 and after reading up on the brand that the sizing was generously thought I had made the right choice. I was wrong. Like everything else made in China I should have chosen the size 81 instead. Please don't get me wrong this looks like a great blanket just make sure you order the next size bigger.

overall a nice blanket, 1/10/2013

Ashly from Nyala, NV

Ill be buying another :). Holding up well love the adjustable fit and stretchy leg straps and how everything is double reinforced (first with elastic and then with nylon). I esp love the front and the snaps super easy with frozen fingers even! Runs a bit small on my mare but she may be a fluffier with not being rode ;) as much in our frosty conditions. Hardware is ligher in construction and im sure ill be replacing the leg straps as they wear out though.

Stays put, 1/4/2013

Lori in Maine from ME

This is the first open front blanket I have tried and I love it. It is easy to put on and the horses love it. I bought it last winter and although it was warm and I didn't use it much it stayed on well and looks new this winter. One of my horses kept taking the blanket off the other horse but he can't get this off and he hasn't ripped it trying either.

Great blanket!, 12/10/2012

eventer091 from Maine

This blanket is amazing! It is much better then any other blanket I've seen or used. It holds up to other horses biting and playing and the size is true. I bought a size 84 for my Belgian/QH and it fits perfect. I love the option for the neck adj. too. It is very water proof. While most blankets get wet and heavy, the water just forms in droplets on this blanket and slips right off, it doesn't weigh the blanket down or soak through. I love it! And the medium weight is perfect for Maine winter. 5 stars for this blanket!

Love it!, 12/1/2012

Mishy from Colchester, VT

When I was shopping, I was looking for the best of both worlds, a good blanket and in purple. I too was skeptical because you generally think weatherbeeta is the best but they are expensive. I have put this on my mare for the past two nights in 15 degree weather and between her coat and this blanket she has been warm and comfortable. Even on pasture she just looks happy in this. While there were cheaper blankets, I chose this because of the denier, color, and reviews and I'm glad I spent a bit more!

Great value!, 11/26/2012

HEATHER HELLUMS from Yakima, WA

I was skeptical about ordering this blanket, but I am glad I did! The fit is perfect, sizes run true, the neck line is fantastic, and the surcingles are up high enough that they don't fill with mud when the horse lays down. My horse lays down, rolls in, walks through the trees, and it's holding up great. We're both happy with this purchase. :)

Great blanket, 11/11/2012

Mike from Fries, VA

I've had this blanket for about a year now and despite how much he likes to roll around on the ground and how much he and the other horses in the field play the blanket still looks good. The fit is good and the blanket keeps him quite warm. The farm where he's boarded at liked the blanket so much they ordered these for all of their horses.

Nice Blanket But!!, 11/5/2012

Tough 1 1200 D Snuggit Turnout Blanket 200g from Alvarado, Texas

We ordered two of these blankets. Like the blankets and height of the neck but the neck adjustment was not really great since our horses are not thick necked. We also measured our horses twice the way instructed. The blankets were too big but since our horses were two different sizes (78 and 84) the smaller blanket fit the bigger horse. Luckily, the larger blanket fit a friend's horse. Will have to see how the blanket holds up with our active horses when the weather gets cold.

Love it, 9/30/2012

Max Brown from Nebraska

I just got my blanket in blue, I love it! But when I tried it on Max, it was a tad long down the sides. But that isn't much of a problem at all, overall great blanket, has yet to stand up to snow or rain. But I have a good feeling about it!

Love it, 9/8/2012

Janet from Gloucester, VA

I bought this blanket last year for my stocky quarter house who was never blanketed in the 7 years I've owned him. A new location and very open pastures required some protection. This blanket fit him very well and I love the chest buckles/snaps but only found them on this one style. No buckling and unbuckling just a snap and its always properly adjusted. Kept him dry and comfortable all winter. Never moved off center even after he rolled and took off bucking across the field. Going to buy a second one for my daughter's quarter horse mare.
