Measuring Instructions - Stand your horse as square as possible, measure from the center of chest around side of the body to the point of the horse's rump just before the tail. If you horse ends up measuring between sizes always round up to the next size to ensure full coverage.

Washing Instructions - Machine wash with cold water – Gentle cycle with mild detergent. Air Dry or Machine Dry/No Heat
Horses Turned Outside without Shelter - Turnout Sheet and Blanket materials are waterproof and designed to keep your horse dry, however if your horse is turned out in a field without a run in shed or shelter during prolonged rain or heavy downpours your horse may still get wet especially in the neck and tail areas.
When using a blanket or sheet it is critical to monitor the fluctuating climate and temperatures even with a blanket that is waterproof and breathable. The wicking properties of a breathable blanket are designed to wick away normal body heat, when a blanket is too heavy the heat and moisture cannot be wicked away fast enough causing your horse to sweat. The temperature and the length of your horse’s coat will determine what weight of blanket you should use. For this reason, most people who choose to blanket horses have several articles of horse clothing that offer varying levels of warmth.

When selecting a blanket ensure to take into account your horse’s behavior, environment or other horses that may be turned out with your horse. The lower the denier number the less strength the material has. 420 Denier and 600 Denier are not recommended for horses that bite, chew or rub on blankets or for horses turned out with a companion or in a group. Always ensure your horse’s blanket is properly fitted and all straps are adjusted correctly, if a blanket is too tight or too loose, straps may break and material may tear.  For younger horses or horses turned out with a companion or in groups, it is recommended to purchase 1200 Denier or 1680 Denier material as these are stronger materials and are less likely to tear. Certain types of fencing such as barbwire or foreign objects such as nails will easily tear any blanket no matter what the denier, always inspect the area in which your horse is kept to remove any nails or jagged fencing that may cause damage. There are no horse blankets that are guaranteed to not rip or tear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice for the price! These fit great! I've had mine for 2 winters now and they are still in good shape. I wash them once a week too, and still holding up! November 15, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by GREAT! fits my gelding perfectly everywhere November 8, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by A pleasent suprise This was the first time I have bought a tough-1 ablnket, and Ithink I have found a new fav brand! This stable blanket is tough! I love the qusets in the back as well as the front, the belly wrap is perfect, but I have to say the snap front is my favorite feature. It is soooo easy to put on a take off, and not having big bulky buckles on my horses chest allows me to layer, wich is great. The lining is very soft... there are lots of stitching seems that aren't so soft, but it's no big deal. At the moment my gelding have been wearing his a lot and he hasn't gotten rub spots on his shoulders yet - usually he is the fist to need a shoulder guard, but not with this blanket. It is very warm, and doesn't mess up the mane or tail.. cut back wither and no tail flap - also very nice! Over all my favorite stable blanket by far... course I wish it wasn't so expensive, but is deffinitely worth it. October 25, 2011

need to know if this blanket will be warm enough for below 0 weather?
A shopper on Sep 11, 2014
Best Answer: They are medium weight -- wind and water resistant, but not super heavy. Good fit makes them snuggy tho. So midday in the sun with no wind, probably OK. Shade with severe weather, nope - probably want to layer two of them (which would be my choice anyhow cause they are light in actual weight and have a superb fit.)

if your horse is in between sizes to you go up a size or down a size?
A shopper on Nov 22, 2015
Best Answer: Generally it's best to go with the CLOSEST one to your horse's size, unless he is particularly big-bodied, in which case you should consider rounding up.
Stand your horse as square as possible. Measure from the center of the chest along the side of the body to the point of the horse's rump just before the tail. If your horse ends up measuring between sizes, choose the one closest to your measurement unless your horse is particularly big-bodied.
Measuring is usually best done with a helper and a soft or cloth measuring tape. Take the measurement twice to be sure.

Are these waterproof?

Best Answer: I'd say they are water resistant, as in a temporary light shower, but not waterproof.

Is there any way I can get more padding on the butt? My horse had a bad accident this year and lost a lot of weight, her hips are rubbing when she lays down, more stuffing there would help tremendously
Shelb on Nov 21, 2014
Best Answer: My warmblood has very prominent withers and had always ended up with bruising & raw spots from her blankets even with a shoulder guard. I sewed a pocket over the withers with a seam down the middle and put long narrow pieces of foam in them to keep the blanket from rubbing. I would think doing the same for your mare with a full lycra sheet and pockets for foam over the hips would provide the same comfort. I took a few tries to get it right, but it was worth it. She now still looks forward to being rode in the winter because her withers aren't sore? This year I also sewed pockets in the front where she would get rub spots at her shoulders and put in quilted fleece. She's had on a blanket for over a month already and no rub spots or sores!
