·         600 Denier Poly - Medium Material Strength-Not Recommended for horses that bite, chew or rub on blankets or for horses turned out with a companion or in a group. Material may tear or rip if caught on a nail, rough fencing or thorns from bushes.

·         250g Polyfill- provides medium warmth and protection from wind and rain.

·         210 Denier Poly Lining - Prevents rubbing and helps to keep the coat shiny while preventing hair, shavings, and straw from sticking to the inside of the blanket.

·         Waterproof - coated outer shell with taped seams and seamless spine repels water to keep your horse dry.

·         Breathable - Designed to allow moisture vapor to pass wick away from the horse and preventing sweating while retaining body heat and repelling outside coldness.

·         Adjustable Elastic Leg Straps - Help to secure the blanket and prevent from shifting from side to side.

·         Tail Cover -provides additional protection from moisture near tail bone.

  • Measuring Instructions - Stand your horse as square as possible, measure from the center of chest around side of the body to the point of the horse's rump just before the tail. If you horse ends up measuring between sizes always round up to the next size to ensure full coverage.
  • Washing Instructions - Machine wash with cold water – Gentle cycle with mild detergent. Air Dry or Machine Dry/No Heat
  • Horses Turned Outside without Shelter - Turnout Sheet and Blanket materials are waterproof and designed to keep your horse dry, however if your horse is turned out in a field without a run in shed or shelter during prolonged rain or heavy downpours your horse may still get wet especially in the neck and tail areas.
  • When using a blanket or sheet it is critical to monitor the fluctuating climate and temperatures even with a blanket that is waterproof and breathable. The wicking properties of a breathable blanket are designed to wick away normal body heat, when a blanket is too heavy the heat and moisture cannot be wicked away fast enough causing your horse to sweat. The temperature and the length of your horse’s coat will determine what weight of blanket you should use. For this reason, most people who choose to blanket horses have several articles of horse clothing that offer varying levels of warmth.
  • When selecting a blanket ensure to take into account your horse’s behavior, environment or other horses that may be turned out with your horse. The lower the denier number the less strength the material has. 420 Denier and 600 Denier are not recommended for horses that bite, chew or rub on blankets or for horses turned out with a companion or in a group. Always ensure your horse’s blanket is properly fitted and all straps are adjusted correctly, if a blanket is too tight or too loose, straps may break and material may tear. For younger horses or horses turned out with a companion or in groups, it is recommended to purchase 1200 Denier or 1680 Denier material as these are stronger materials and are less likely to tear. Certain types of fencing such as barbwire or foreign objects such as nails will easily tear any blanket no matter what the denier, always inspect the area in which your horse is kept to remove any nails or jagged fencing that may cause damage. There are no horse blankets that are guaranteed to not rip or tear.

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 19 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Durable, functional, good-looking blanket Upon extensive research on blankets in my price range, I settled on this one. I bought three for my three horses (2-, 3-, and 15-year-old QH mares) in blue, lime green, and pink. The colors are so pretty and vibrant, and the blankets are cozy. Arizona winters aren't too harsh, but these blankets block out wind, rain, mud, and cold well. My horses get let out every day to a pasture with trees, so I'm surprised at how well these blankets have held up. After a couple months of use, the blankets are still in excellent shape - no rips, tears, or holes. Needless to say, I'm VERY pleased with these blankets, especially for the price! As for those reviewers whose blanket rigging has ripped, it's probably because the straps were too tight. The straps need to stay somewhat loose so the horses can move and roll! April 14, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing Where we live we get alot of wind & of course Wisconsin winters,my crew need's the protection so I ordered my first blanket, put it on my horse & it fits perfect! Plus he really likes it, he's comfortable & it stays in place even if he rolls. I have tried other blankets & just love this style/design of it & so does my horse. I recently order another one to try another horse (he's really hard on blankets)it's doing great the only thing he has done is ripped out both back leg straps on the 5th day of wearing it, but overall it's holding up well. Love these blanket & I am ordering more for the rest of my horse!! Can't beat the price either! Highly recommend!! Lisa from Wisconsin February 21, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not so great product! I purchased three of these blankets for my horses this past Fall. New brand for me having always purchased Saxon in the past, which have lasted two years. These Tough-1's are falling apart and will be soon unuseable. Some of the straps have broken or fallen off two of the blankets, they come unhooked almost daily, and two of them have tears in them. Needless to say, I am very dissappointed in what I spent my money on. I will go back to buying the Saxon brand even though they don't have as pretty colors, the blankets wear well and last at least two years. These haven't made it 4 months. February 15, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome Product!! I got this blanket for my older mare and she loves it! She is not very tough on a blanket but gives it a good testing at times. Great blanket for the price. February 12, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful! I currently have 3 of these, one for my pregnant appaloosa, she has been wearing it day and night for 3 weeks and it is holding up nicely, drys quickly if it gets wet, keeps her warm and dry! the other 2 are still in the packages as they still need to be tried on, but will be for the ponies when it gets really cold. I LOVE them. January 23, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by EXCELLENT!! I purchased this blanket at the beginning of December and waited to see how well it would hold up before writing a review. The blanket fits very well and is true to size. I have a 22 yr old QH mare who needed the extra warmth to help keep weight on for the winter. Although the weather has been mild thus far, when there are cold nights or windy cold days she wears her blanket all day. I see her laying in the field, rolling and playing with the blanket on and there are no rips, tears or stains on it! I have 2 geldings who like to bite and play but they have not torn this blanket! I was afraid the lime green color would get dirty quickly but the dirt just brushes right off leaving no stains. The plus of the bright color is being able to keep track of her in the field at night since she is a dark bay color. It keeps her nice and toasty warm and dry in the rain. I recommend this blanket and plan to purchase 2 more for the boys. January 10, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by JUNK Don't waste your money I ordered 2 of these blankets and put them on our horses 1 week ago. I cannot believe the poor quality of them. The stitching that hold the straps on has all come apart, the straps will not stay buckled, the rear straps fall off contiunously. These blankets are a total falling apart mess after one week. Tough One indeed! They only thing these rotten blankets are Tough on, are my pocket book, and me, trying to keep them on the horse. I have owned different brands of blankets, these things are the worst ever. You should not be selling them. December 23, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice Blankets for the Price Got two of these, one for a paso fino, the other for a thoroughbred. Fits the tb like a dream, but is very long on the fino. Has a few snags in them already, but to be expected in a pasture with trees. All in all, at this price I'll be happy if they survive the season! December 11, 2011

How does the closure work on the chest? Buckle? Velcro?
A shopper on Nov 13, 2014
Best Answer: It is a double buckle. The nice thing about the front of this is it has loops to tuck the ends of the straps into so they don't rub on the horse's chest. I like it and my horse moves well and is comfortable day or night out in the pasture

What size rug would fit a horse 15.3-16 hands?
Francesca E on Nov 29, 2015
Best Answer: You should always measure the horse before you order a blanket:
Stand your horse as square as possible. Measure from the center of the chest along the side of the body to the point of the horse's rump just before the tail. If your horse ends up measuring between sizes, choose the one closest to your measurement unless your horse is particularly big-bodied.
Measuring is usually best done with a helper and a soft or cloth measuring tape. Take the measurement twice to be sure.

Is the blanket waterproof?
kayla C on Oct 11, 2015
Best Answer: Yes it's waterproof but in a heavy drenching rain they're still probably going to get a little damp so best to still have some sort of shelter for your horse if he/she is out. Definitely will keep them dry in normal rainfall.

Now that I learned from question below that Denier is fabric toughness,how does one know what to get for warmth? I have 2 blankets on and thought the different deniers felt heavier as they went up so thought it was warmth too!? :*{
Margaret A on Nov 30, 2015
Best Answer: You look at the weight in grams---150g, 200g or whatever it states. That would indicate the warmth/lining/thickness.

I have a very elderly mare, age 30. She is in great shape for her age but is thin, as most older horses are. She measures 70-71". I have tried numerous sizes on her, but because of her being thin, non seem to really fit. Any ideas?
