    Best Answer: I would start using a soft Loose or D-Ring Snaffle and work on flexing and bending (direct reining), then switch to a short Shank Snaffle...before using this one here. I am using this one here on young horses that already have been introduced to a short Shank and know the pressure coming from the chin strap.
    I love this simple Training Bit, but I would never use it on a fresh started horse!

    Best Answer: It's about 5-5 1/2 REALLY good, I use this bit on EVERYTHING.
