I bought this bit for a high spirited, green tb mare. She had never been ridden with a bit and had the bad habbit of tossing her head and rearing up. But no matter her flaws I was determined to buy her. So after much consideration I purchased this bit and let me tell you what a difference! My mare instantly stopped tossing her head, didn't rear, and was extremely responsive. She was like a completely different horse. Her former owners were so amazed at how calm and collected she was that they actually tried to buy her back from me. Now Piper is so calm and level headed I let my three year old daughter ride with me.

This bit fits my big Paint mare perfectly. I put 2 rubber bit gaurds on it,and the double curb chain on it, and it is ideal.

This would have been an excellent bit, the classic Foreman style western pelham with a copper roller as a bonus. Very hard to find and my favorite western bit of all time. Unfortunately, at 5.5 inches it is much too wide for most horses (I have Morgans). I would gladly buy another if it was offered in a 5 inch mouth.

I've been trying to find the right bit for my QH mare. This seems to work for her now. Her head is down, and she's stopping on a dime. I think this is a good bit for us for now.
