Rated 4 out of 5 by Fits small to average horses I tried a friend's gag hack with a rope nose on my "petite" draft horse and she lightened up and went extremely well in it. So I bought this one for her. It worked fine at first except, like all gags, I needed bit guards for it to keep it from pinching her lips and in order to keep her from pulling the bit guards into her mouth and chewing them, I needed to raise the bit higher. After doing that, the nose piece/curb chain, which also got raised higher, got a little too tight, even with the curb on the last link. She started shaking her head a lot and bracing against it. I tried it on a couple of other horses who were heavy on the bit, one with a small head and another with an average sized head and it worked great on them. October 23, 2012
