I was disappointed with the bit I received. Unlike previous reviewers had said, mine did not have copper inlay in the roller. It was greasy, and seemed cheaply made. Wasn't stainless or sweet iron, just steel. Wasn't the name brand that others have mentioned, but some cheap china made knock off. Port was also higher than I expected for a 'low port'. I'm going to order the name brand with copper from somewhere else. But service is excellent.

low port loose cheek bit from westmoreland, tn
I started my horse on a snaffle bit and eventually she didnt pay attention to it. Tom Thumb seemed to severe, she worked with it but didnt like it. Tried to other bits, not good. Tried this bit and it works great. More response and stopping. Good quality, I recommend this bit!.

As a trainer, I buy a lot of bits, and I use them on enough different horses to get a true feel for them. This is my favorite bit to use as a transition, I use snaffle and then a dogbone short shank which is very close to a snaffle, and then this one. This is by far their favorite. It doesnt scare young horses from the bit because of its mild action if used correctly, but it also helps achieve self carriage as they find it more difficult to lean on. Then I finish them with a correction. This is a MUST HAVE in my barn.

THIS BIT IS AMAZING. I wanted something mild as a transition from a plain old snaffle, and this is perfect. The halves move independently AND the shanks do too, which makes it possible to direct rein if you really need to. It also looks nice enough to show in, too! I wouldn't use any other bit after using this one!

I've been riding my mare with a sold curb and cheek bit and decided to switch to this bit and I can't believe the difference it has made! She is so much more responsive, doesn't raise her head to avoid the pressure and responds willingly and quickly. Am VERY HAPPY with this simple little bit!!

I purchased this bit for my half-arab gelding. He absolutely loves it! He responds very well to it. He needed a step-up from a snaffle as he neck reins and moves off of my leg. I am going to order another one soon!

Both of my horses like this bit. They respond much better to my cues also. Seems to be well made.

I love the look of the bit and my horse seemd to perform well in it . . . BUT where the cheekpieces are hinged pinch him and create a sore. Now I have to find another bit.

I was very pleased when I received this bit. It is such nice quality for such a great price! It has some weight to it, nice accents too. I think it will be a great transition from the snaffle. My horse's mouth was nice and soft in it.

This is a really nice bit, and the product description on here doesn't do it justice. I was pleasantly surprised when I got this bit in the mail. It is made by Metalab. It has a sweet iron mouthpeice with small copper inlays. Very nice and a very good price.

I purchased two of these bits just last week. One for a friend and one for myself. Just returned from a ride using it on a new horse that I'd been riding in a snaffle and needed just a slight step up. He responded very well to it and had just enough 'whoa and turn' when needed.

I bought this bit a few months ago at another store and all my horses seem to love it. It is gentle and so flexible that I can direct rein when/if I need to without confusing the horse. I just bought my second one from here because the other one is always on another horse. :)

This bit holds up really well and I've had it for about 3 years(I use it about twice every week). The price is reasonable and my all-around horse seems to like it.

I purchased this bit a few months ago and have been using it on my barrel horse. I love it and so does he. It is has a low port and short shanks which makes it very mild and yet I dont have a problem at all with control! Its great and I highly recommend it.
