This charger can operate on your choice of 4 "D" flashlight batteries (fit inside charger) or one 6- or 12-volt external battery (Batteries not included).  Extremely portable and easy to use.

Unreliable D Cell, 3/27/2012

Thgis unit turned out to be unreliable when using the D-Cell battery option, failing on the trail when needed or used stopped worked when needed. The unit still works on the 12-volt option.
