Leckker Lumps
Ingredients: Apple peelings , or you can use full apples Carrot peelings, or you can use whole carrots. The whole idea of this recipe was to utilize the peelings from the household. Sometimes I put potato, parsnip, turnip peelings into the mix, Crushed flax seed Oatmeal molasses soya or canola oil This is where you have to adjust the amounts to acheive the consistancy of cookie dough. You can even add some sweet feed if you want.
Instructions: Put all these ingredients into a food processor. This is where you have to adjust the amounts to acheive the consistancy of cookie dough.
You can even add some sweet feed if you want
blend to acheive the consistancy so that you can form them into little balls or put the mixture into a cookie gun (I do this) and on an ungreased cookie sheet pop them into the oven at a temperature of 250 for about 4 hours, longer time for thick lumps, shorter for thinner.
Remove them let cool on a wire rack. Leave the lumps on the wire rack for at least 24hours. (if you are in humid conditions bake them longer)
After they have reached the hardness desired pack them off to the barn. I personally haven't met a horse yet who didn't love them! Submitted by: Sue
