I use it every summer because it makes the horses less desirable to insects and boosts the immune system at the same time, great product.
JANETTE A on Jun 18, 2019

seems to be working on a palomino with hyper sensitive skin
Susan V on Apr 4, 2018
was hoping this would keep flies away, our horses will not touch their food with this. I've tried gradually adding it in, even with just a pinch they won't touch
ELISHA M on Nov 27, 2017
Reordering. Does seem to help with the overall pest control.
JENNIFER Z on Jun 28, 2017
Best stuff on the market to help our equine friends fight off the flies. Has reduced population of flies on my farm by over 70%.
BARBARA A R on May 16, 2017
This product has literally saved my horse from being eaten alive by flies and knats. my only complaint is I wish everyone at the barn would use it.
DEANNA A on Mar 23, 2017
Affordable
Joyce P on Mar 23, 2017
I really like the blend, such as diatomaceous earth, which has many wonderful benefits. This product seems to be effective with the flies. My horses took maybe 2 days to get accustomed to it with grain and a little water spritzed on top.
Holly W on Nov 26, 2016
IT REALLY KEEPS THE FLIES DOWN. MY HORSES ARE NOT SWISHING THEIR TAILS, SHAKING THEIR HEADS, OR BITING THEMSELVES TRYING TO CHASE OFF FLIES. NEITHER ARE WE! YOU DO NEED TO START FEEDING IT FAIRLY EARLY IN THE YEAR TO HAVE IT WORK THE BEST.
COZETTE S on Jul 16, 2016
reliable product, use it every summer
ANN MARIE O on Jun 18, 2016
This is a good way to minimize the need for topical fly sprays.

Kurtis W on Oct 1, 2015
This product actually helps. It does not COMPLETELY keep flies off but it reduces them greatly.
JESSICA S on Aug 10, 2015
caught my eye, want to try
greg j on Jun 25, 2015
works well
TERESIA M on Mar 13, 2015
It really works. I've been using it for 2 or 3 years now and once you get it into your horses' routine you really see a difference. I have 8 horses now and my neighbors are very happy and surprised at how well we control flies without using any type of poisons. (They love this stuff better than anyone!)
ROBIN L on Jan 24, 2015
I have used it for years with great success
JOSEPH L on Aug 19, 2014
I have used bug lyte for years here in Oklahoma and the west coast.works very well, a bit hard to deal with when it's windy though.. good, inexpensive product.

HELP WITH REPELLING FLYS/MOSQUITOS. ALSO, REDUCES LARVAE IN MANURE.
DORIS C on Jun 19, 2014
My horse has less bugs this year. Less bugs and cost as compared to Smartpak bug feed thru supplement or herbal garlic supplement I used last year. He has had to be on day turnout this summer. Other horses he is out with have lots of flies but he doesn't.
JANE H on Jun 15, 2014
oh my gosh i think it's working!!
CHERYL F on May 21, 2014
To try to keep my rescue OTTB mare bug free.

I have a Paso that gets bit all over as soon as it gets warm. I started using this and noticed after 14 days there are alot less bites. My horses can't wait for their feed when Buglyte is in it.
Susan B on May 3, 2014

SARA H on Apr 28, 2014
great fly control for little money
Gwen H on Apr 3, 2014
I start this before fly season along with year round apple cider vinegar. No flies and trail rides off our property are fly and pest free while other horses are driven crazy. Love the stuff.
S D on Mar 29, 2014
I have decided to try a different approach to fly control this year. I have used fly predators for a few years and even though the flies are fewer, if surrounding neighbors don't use them they don't work as well, so I'm going to give this a try because of good reviews.
CORINE B on Mar 28, 2014
Other reviews were good so I thought I would try it.
KIM D on Mar 28, 2014
I needed to have a product that would deter biting insects as they cause my horse to rub herself raw by itching. This also has digestive enzymes so it is easier on her sensitive tummy as she also has gastric ulcers.
Michele N on Mar 25, 2014
Fly season is here - used this last year & it helps reduce irritation for my mares.
M I on Mar 23, 2014
It helps
SHIRLEY M on Mar 14, 2014

seems to be working on a palomino with hyper sensitive skin
Susan V on Apr 4, 2018
I have used this product for years & love it. For some reason, certain horses that have been on this for years, have suddenly become anxious & hyper sensetive after starting them back on it this year. I'm wondering if they changed something in the ingredients, and if anyone else has had similar effects?
Diana S on Apr 2, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I have been using this product for years and have not noticed any adverse reactions or changes in my 2 horses, 1 a senior and 1 not a senior. The younger horse can sometimes get anxious over certain situations (trailering for example). I use Via Calm for his occasional anxiety.
Can this be used in conjunction with Simplifly?
Liz O on Mar 21, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I would use one or the other, not both. They are both feed-thru products, while they have different ingredients, the interactions inside are unknown. They both kill fly larvae in the manure. The BugLyte worked well.
Will this work at repelling ticks?
A shopper on Feb 28, 2018

Is it okay for pregnant mares?
JENNIFER Z on May 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I'm not a vet by any means but one of my mares was pregnant while I was using it and no adverse reaction and the filly is super healthy and still with us at almost 3 yrs of age. However, I have been waiting for more from these guys since last Feb or March and they don't seem to be able to get it any more. Not sure what's going on??? Wonderful product though... it does work.
apparently I have three picky eaters cuz they all refused to eat their grain with this stuff over it. Any suggestions?
horselover on Apr 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: First of all no treats of goodies before you give them this also start off with a very small amount and sprinkle some brown sugar and then eventually add up to the right amount The stuff is phenomenal it's got all good stuff in it and it works Also the horses love that Coco serum that comes in a gallon jug pour some of that in there they all love that , it's by Unickele (sp) Just till they get used to it Of course try the brown sugar first Good luck morning Feeding would be the best cause they are the hungriest
What happens if dogs eat the horse poop? Garlic is toxic to dogs?
A shopper on Apr 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: EnAs a liver enhancer, garlic breaks down wastes before they enter the bloodstream. It also helps your dog assimilate nutrients and eliminate wastes through the entire digestive tract.
Garlic is high in sulphur and fructans (inulin and oligofructose). Fructans can cause digestive upset in dogs suffering from leaky gut, inflammatory bowel disease and irritable bowel syndrome. When undigested fructans ferment in the small intestine, they cause bloating, gas and constipation. Your dog’s digestive system needs to be healthy before you feed her garlic.
6 Ways Garlic Can Help Your Dog
Here are some ways garlic helps keep your dog healthy:

Prevents the formation of blood clots (anti-platelet)
Decreases cholesterol build up (anti-cholesterolemic)
Widens blood vessels (vasodilator)
Helps prevent the formation of tumors (anti-tumor)
Stimulates the lymphatic system to remove wastes
Antibiotic, antifungal and antiparasitic
Garlic has other uses in addition to these health benefits.

Garlic As A Flea And Tick Repellent
Garlic may help you in the war on fleas and ticks if you feed it to your dogs during flea and tick season. It takes a couple of weeks for garlic to build up in your dog’s natural coat oil, so start feeding it before the bug season starts.ter an answer to this question.
Is Animed BugLyte safe for dogs? It works great on my horses.
txcowboycj on Mar 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: According to the description under the 1.5lb BugLyte on DoMyOwn dot com it is safe for use on "Horse, dog, goat, sheep, cat and other farm animals" I live chatted with that site and they swore they spoke to the manufacturer, AniMed, during "training sessions" and were told it IS safe for all farm animals, including pigs, which is what I was wondering about. I am still skeptical, since they are the only site that says it is safe for anything other then horses, so I went to AniMed and used their online form to ask the question myself. I am waiting their reply.
Does this help with mosquitos?
Randi M on Sep 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It says that it works on mosquitos. We do have them in Nevada and come to think of it, have never seen one near my horse. However she also gets West Nile shot. But for flies wow this stuff is awesome.
My Palomino is terrorized by flies. Is it okay to keep him on the 1 oz per 1000 lbs continuously?
A shopper on Aug 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have used Animes Buglyte for the past several years. I have used the above dosage for 3 of my horses from March thru October with no ill effects but I'm really not sure if the product made a significant difference in fly control. I did not use the product this year, instead I have used fly preditors from Spalding Labs (not Arbico), the large bag fly traps placed away from the barn, and I clean my dry lot and stalls twice a day. I have very few flies this year and it has been a hot, wet summer in Missouri, great breeding grouns for fly's.
How long does a 1.5lbs last?
Johannafehr on Jun 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I feed it to all my horses... the big side of scoop to horses and the small size to my mini"s. This amount helps with the bug bites and sensitivity. However good manure management and other fly prevention is highly recommended! I also start feeding in March. Gradually introduce to your horse and give it a month or so to see results. increase as you need. Good luck!
Does this product help keep the knats from biting them?
A shopper on May 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have seen some folks complain that it does not, but in my case, my two horses are never bothered by gnats.I have used this product for years, and swear by it,,.
Why will it not ship to my address in California??
A shopper on Apr 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately the state of California restricts the item from coming in.
How much can you feed to minis?
A shopper on Mar 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Honestly this supp isn't administered by weight. So using the scoop provided should work just fine for your mini's. The ingredients are very simple, just diatomaceous earth and garlic powder. So it shouldn't bother your horses at all regardless of size.
In theory you could eat it yourself with no consequences.
That being said, this is by far my favorite product out there and has worked the best for my horses.
Hope this answer helps you.
Wondering how long this product took to start working? I just ordered a fly sheet and my boy gets fly spray twice a day but i want to add something to help him. Bugs are so bad this year! thanks for any advice!
STEPHANIE L on May 29, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hello, results may vary but typically you will start to see results within 30 days
does buglyte keep flies from biting the horse that has been treated with it?
A shopper on May 2, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I think it does help but over a period of time. We keep our horses on it year round because we live in buggy Alabama. Started using it because of a mare with queensland itch. It was horrible the gnats tore her legs up and she was miserable. That was two summers ago and haven't had any more problems. Plus, only reason I use fly spray on trail rides is for wasps and deer flies. It is excellent and there coats are very shiny too. I am very pleased with this product.
