I have been using this on auto ship for quite some time now, and it works great at a reasonable price. When I first rescued my old mare, she couldn't even stand for long periods, and walking was painful to her. She does great on this supplement, and feels good enough to trot and lope at times. Well worth the price.

SUSAN D on Sep 4, 2015
Simply can't beat the price and the horses eat it with no trouble. We run a horse rescue and see a definite improvement in horses when we start them on this.
ABBY W on Jul 25, 2015
Trying this product for the first time on my aging gelding. He is a retired rope horse and is getting a little stiff in his shoulders. I have used AniMed products in the past and hope this works as well .

Patricia K on Jul 11, 2015
amazing product for the cost. Works just as well as some of the more expensive joint supplements!
NICOLE T on Jul 7, 2015
My horse is only 12 years old and hasn't done much hard riding or hard work, but I occasionally hear her joints pop or click, so I'm giving her supplements to be sure that as she ages, she can still move easily and painlessly.
Eleesha N on Jun 29, 2015
I just wanted to see if it would make a difference in comfort for my old mares, disappointing, no noticeable change. I find just using the AniMed MSM provides better results and much cheaper. I do feed ground flax too. I will not reorder.

Michele J on Mar 2, 2015
My mare had an injury to her front left leg when she was two. The knee is bigger than it should be and the vet recommended I give her glucosamine. Since I started she thinks she's as young as the other two in the pasture with her. She hasn't limped around since.
VANESSA D on Mar 2, 2015
I've been using this supplement for about a year now and I have found the results very pleasing. The horses are moving more freely in their joints and are not showing joint soreness like they were prior to using this. Thus far you have a thumbs up from my herd.
K C on Feb 10, 2015
My paint has bad arthritis and even with the snow this morning he jumped up and went running through his paddock which I have not seen him do in over 2 yrs so it says a lot for this product he has only been back on it for 1 week and he is already showing such great improvement that he will be doing drill this yr he loves to do it but it was to hard on him last yr when it was cold or windy because he could not walk even with his legs wrapped.
teresa on Nov 29, 2014
been using for several years now, great price and it helps my 4 legged older babies :)

Dosage for a dog?
A shopper on Mar 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This is not for a dog, this is a equine supplement.
Can I use for my 22 lb schnauzer and what s the proper dosage for him?
Lu M on Sep 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This supplement is rated for use with horses only. We have to recommend that you check with a veterinarian before using on a different animal.
what is the dosage for animed glucosamine 5000?
A shopper on Oct 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: this is listed under the product summary. If the horse is just starting this type of medicine you do a loading dose of 2 tablespoons daily for 2 weeks and then can decrease to half that daily for maintenance. Some horse's doses may differ depending on how severe the arthritis is/individual response. I am a pharmacist and tell my human patients to give it at least a month to decide if it is helping.
What is the difference between Glucosamine 5000 and Glucosamine powder?
A shopper on Aug 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I believe the Glucosamine 5000 has more concentrated glucosamine in it. I have used the AniMed Glucosamine 5000 powder on my older mare with arthritis and an old leg in injury for years. You start out giving them 2 big scoops full per day for a month and then I give her 1 big scoop every night after that. You have to give it at least month to see any results. I didn't know if it was working that great for her until I stopped giving it to her and it was unbelievable how bad she got again. After I started her back on it and a month or so past, she was MUCH better again. I would recommend this for sore joints or arthritis but make sure you give it time because it takes a while to get into their system regularly. Another bonus is it isn't that expensive to keep my mare on it.
Can I mix this with his food?
A shopper on Aug 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes I mix my horse's supplements with his grain sometimes he will not finish all of them up but he goes back after and eats them up
Can I give this product to my dog?
A shopper on May 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it is safe to give a dog, and probably cheaper than buying the same ingredients made for canine se.
I bought this for my Nubian goats. But don't know what a typical horse weight would be so I can figure out dosage. 1,000 lbs?
Becky on Mar 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Becky, you should be pretty close at 1,000 lb. The dosage isn't critical anyway with a supplement like glucosamine, since they are all different when you compare activity and energy levels, diet, and metabolism, so it's really more about finding what your horse responds well to. I have a 20+ year old quarter horse that the vet said was unrideable because of arthritis and lameness in her hind quarters. It only took a few weeks with this product to reduce her pain and stiffness and I ride her now with no problems. It's a great help for an older horse.
Would this be okay for ulcer prone horse?
rosemary r on Feb 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I don't think it would have any adverse affect on the horse. It is mostly natural ingredients, so therefore should be safe with an ulcer prone horse.
