Why did you choose this?
Horse.com Store
Best price, great length, they hold up well, have a good feel to them and are not getting stiff over time. Favorite lead rope, only wish they would be available in a dark blue (navy).

My favorite economy lead. Good feel and balance for leading and doing ground work. Doesn't hold up well to being pulled or stepped on, once the outer casing tears, the rope starts coming apart.

The rope is made of high quality material and I love that it has the leather at the end. Very helpful in training.

Love these lead ropes. Longer than normal ones and very strong.

I prefer this as to the cotton ones, I think it will wear better and longer. I choose black to hide the dirt and to compliment my saddle pad that is black and turquoise. I bought the turquoise halter and didn't want too much of the same color so I choose black.

Price and to go with my new Blocker Tie Rings.

I like the way the snap is attached. It isn't secured by one of those cheap clamps that will break under pressure.

By far our favorite lead rope. We probably order fifty or sixty of these a year for our horse adoption program. Has a nice feel, just the right length. Great for training and an economical replacement for more expensive clinician branded lead ropes.

I choose the Basic Cowboy Braided Lead Rope Black because I had a pink lead rope with a gelding. I am about to go to a horse school in June and it would be kind of funny if someone found out I had a gelding. So I started looking and 1.http://www.horse.com/default.aspx had the cheapest price I could find 2. I like the leather piece on the end!!!

Love this rope, tried it for one horse, now replacing all the ropes with it. Right weight and has a popper on the end

What is the rope made of?
Guitarrista on Nov 19, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hello Robert. I have had three of the particular lead rope you have asked about. They are very durable and tough. Not entirely sure what they are made out of but the middle is the normal elastic material a lead would be made out of but like I said these are rough and durable! They are then rapped with a para cord/nylon lining. They don't stretch or give to tons of pull force easily if a horse pulls on them. I have a roughly 1200 pound Paint mare who will pull back when spooked if she's tied. She won't stop pulling until she's broken her tie either. With the switch to these ropes she has never broken one yet! The only one I have ever broken was a similar brand to this but it was rubbed on metal trying to get a horse who was fighting into the trailer and after two hours on and off of rubbing metal and being pulled on it finally broke. I've had one horse I traded who left with my original rope and then I purchased a second horse so I ordered two more of these ropes. Don't let the price fool you they are an excellent rope!
How is the snap held on the lead?
A shopper on May 17, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The snap clip is held on by the rope being fed through it and then looped so it is wrapped around it. Very sturdy and holds up excellently! Only lead rope I have ever found that will hold up to my 1300 pound horse when she pulls back.
