Fits on my 1 year and 6 month old paint filly. She is about 14 h tall. It does not fit on my 16.2 h paint. It is rather small and I think my filly will out grow it sooner rather than later. It is good enough to work my filly in the pasture but its not high quality. The rings are a little small so finding reins that fit through it may be challenging. It is good enough for what it costs.

overall a good product
limited in use - no hook on the girth to attach anything, existing rings on surcingle are small - I was not able to pass anything through them, larger than 1 inch. I needed to purchase a carabiner and attach that to the ring and THEN pass my pulley and line through. The ring settings are good, but would like to see more of them located further down the sides of the horse. Other than that, the product seems to be well made.

Basic surcingle
This is a good basic surcingle. Great value. No need to dump bucks on a more expensive one. Our trainer was been using this surcingle for a long time. They last and get the job done.

Look for a better Surcingle
We trained my Tennessee Walking filly using this Surcingle and a Weaver Original Adj Halter w/Snap Average. All the rings pulled out or were stressed in this Surcingle. This could have caused injury to my horse or my husband and myself. We were lucky, the last ring held until we removed surcingle; Or my filly would have thought she won, by escape.Horse.com issued me a refund, because the rings may have been defective. I think, look for better construction. The Weaver Training halter, is very good

Not totally as described
For the price the construction is satisfactory but the description stated the D rings to be 1 1/2". They are scarcely an inch, therefore even narrow lines won't feed through (snaps/buckles) making it quite useless as is. I've attached lightweight carabiners to run the lines through which also allows for clearer communication from the hand to the mouth. The material makes it easy to burn more holes in the girth section if needed. For larger horses I have added a girth extender. Galling should not be a problem if not pulled to tight and you keep your sessions short, otherwise you will need to fold up a "baby" pad and place under the belly. If you are going to use alot, spend the $$$ for a better model.

Good value for the cost
This surcingle fits my gelding well and seems to be very comfortable for him. I expect it to last me a long time and it should be easy to keep clean.

Great Surcingle!
Great! A little bit on the small side for the rings for long lining, but overall a perfect Surcingle!

Good Overall
I bought this for my two year old stud. So far it has worked well and held up good. I like it and would recommend it

well made for the price & materials
Being used to a top quality surcingle, I was a bit skeptical about buying this, but I really didn't want to spend a lot of money in case my horse hated it. It's well made: nice hardware, neat stitching, good padding. It fits my chunky 14.1h Quarter Horse adjusted almost as small as it can go. I wouldn't recommend it for horses much smaller.

Great Product!
I really love this surcingle! Its great quality, looks nice too! I love all of the rings, makes this very versatile for all horses. The fleece is very soft as well. Its an all around simple, great for its price kind of thing. I've used it now 10+ times and it still looks amazing! My gelding accidentally rolled in it when I wasn't looking so it got a bit dusty, so I just hosed it down, let it dry, and good as new! I would definitely recommend it!

I do prefer to do ground work also, not always ride. It teaches head set with out continually using reins. Also teaches to start as a driving tool. we pull the kids around in sleds in winter. such fun.

Can you tell me how long the girth is on this? My girth is too short and I"m hoping this is long enough.

BEST ANSWER: There's plenty of room for our Morgan horse. He is about 14 1/2 hands and should fit a larger horse okay.
Does this surcingle (Basic Nylon Fleece 8-Ring Training Surcingle) have any rings on the girth or are they all located on top?
jibimom on Feb 1, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The surcingle is only the top half of the product in the picture; the girth around the belly is for demonstration purposes only.

There are only 8 rings on the top of the surcingle, with two more on the sides as guides. If the GIRTH has any "rings" at all, it is for managing a martingale, and this, of course, is totally dependent on what you choose to use with the surcingle.
Any idea if this would fit a pony? I have a 12.0h gelding I am training and I want to be sure it will adjust to such a small size. Thanks!
Megan on Jan 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I use different sizes of girths with the surcingle. My ponies (full welsh and welsh-crosses), are from 12.1 to 14 hh, so I use a girth extension when needed. Blessings!
