Best training halter
This is the only halter I use to train horses in.
Not as Described or what I received previously
Very sad. I thought I was getting the same 1/4" wide twisted rope halter that I have bought in previous years. In fact, I bought over 25 halters in one order, for my herd of horses thinking I was getting the same ones I bought before that had this same description and pictures. But instead I received 5/16" soft poly rope twisted halters .These are made out of the same thickness and feel of rope as the Basic Rope 5/16" wide rope halters sold here, but this one is twisted and has the 4 nose knots like in the picture.
If you did not like the thinner 1/4" rope halter of years past and prefer a thicker smooth, rope, than this is for you. BUT, if your horse has a refined petite head and was hoping that this is the same one, it is not. The brand was changed as was the thickness of the rope to be thicker than the 1/4" wide rope halter described. The picture shows an old model lime twisted rope 1/4" rope halter compared to the new 5/16" wide rope twisted rope halter.
The two good things about this rope versus the thinner, stiffer 1/4" wide rope halter of years past is that the lead line knot is now a fiador knot instead of an overhand knot and that the thinner, stiffer rope was terrible about keeping the kinks in from the positioning of old knots when you adjusted the knots down to resize versus this thicker softer rope does not keep a memory of previous tied knot locations so that you can retie and not have a deformed kinky looking halter.

Good in some ways but too soft
For my purposes, this halter is a little too soft so I am not sure how to rate or recommend. It depends on what you want/need for the particular horse. The price is good and it is a nice halter per se. The knots across the nose are good. I need a little more stiffness than what this halter offers.
Stiff and Bulky
I keep this as a spare halter in the barn, although I would have liked to use it daily. Unfortunately, this is a very stiff halter. It seems on the small size, and the knots seem very hard to tighten due to the stiffness, so it's hard to get it larger. The actual circumference used for the rope is huge compared to my other rope halters. This along with the knots makes the noseband very thick and bulky, which isn't the point of twisted nosebands in my opinion, as this seems to dull the affect. Not what I was looking for, but not worth the trouble and cost of returning it, so it sits as a back up. Have it in hot pink and the color is very pretty and bright.
My horse wears a safety halter during turnout, but I wanted one for bathing so I didn't have to worry about the leather parts getting wet and stretching/weakening. This halter is perfect. I also like the knots across the nose for that little extra authority when needed. It does seem to run a little small under the jaw. Great low price for a very useful product.
Great Product
This is a great halter. I buy bunches at a time for training wild mustangs. Keep in mind that the fiador knot for the leadrope loops is loose when the halter first comes in so you can tighten / adjust the halter as needed.
Great Construction
Was looking for a firm yet softer rope base then some of the more standard stiff ropes. This was perfect. Fits well. Horse responds well to the twisted nose braid without added undue or excessive corrective force.
overall good quality
Like this halter, but it does run a bit small. We use it on all our colts, but if you have a thick jawed horse, it will need soaked in water and stretched.
Rope is thick and bulky for a rope halter.
Rope is thick. Not light weight or thin. Makes natural horsemanship goofy and doesn't work well.

I bought one of these halters for a horse I was training. Love them so much I use them on all my horses.
Stands up to a tough horse
I'm currently training a very tough horse and this rope halter has worked wonders as far as keeping her in line during training sessions. Can't wait to order more products.
Decent halter
This halter is thicker than it looks like in the picture, and for some reason, the green one was thicker than the black ones. My horses have smaller, delicate heads, so I wanted a thin, soft halter. I immediately gave away the green one to a friend. She has a bulldog type QH with a muscular head. The halter fit him great, without adjustment and she was pleased. I kept the black one for a back-up halter.The halter is too thick and stiff for my needs, but should work fine for those that like a stout halter. Priced very well.
Way better than I expected for the price.
The halters ( I bought 4) fit everything I got from small headed Arabian to giant box headed mustang. The colors are vibrant the knots could be tighter, but other than that this is a great everyday halter.
Nice lightweight halter
My cousin has this halter for her horse and I've used it a few times. It has lasted for her over 2 years now. The stuff holding the ends together came off a while ago, but that's no big deal. It is rather loose-looking on her appy/TB/paint cross, but I've never seen it fall off. Mind, she does have a older, calmer horse, but the horse has even been pastured in it for a short while and it never came off (yes I know, not the best idea). I wouldn't recommend this for a pony or arab type horse, but for horses with average or large sized heads it should work fine. I just wish it came with a lead rope.
Not what I expected...
I bought this same halter at a tack store for the same price, a nice light blue one, I love it and it's held up to a lot the past four years. I have two friends that I knew would like these and ordered two red. It does seem like the same halter as mine but the knots don't look like my halter or like they do in the pictures, they are loose and I'm going to have to tie one end to a bolting horse to tighten them up because it just looks ridiculous. ;P Overall the color is the same as the photo and the quality is strong and horseworthy, I just dislike the loose knots. ^^
Ehh ok..
I got this a few weeks ago, it's pretty good, but the metal thingy popped off and completely untwisted itself.. It does stretch quite a bit, if it was still twisted it'd be better..

My horse is a TB that requires a warmblood size brow band on his halter,.i was most pleased that this rope halter fit with no adjustments!!
Knotting is not reliable
The know under the horses jaw doesn't stay tight, and the loops for attaching a lead disappear. I tried rigging one different, and my horse ended up without a halter. One doesn't do anygood on another horse. These knots are just poorly tied. And to make matters worse I cannot find rope halters without this weird/fancy knot

These halters are really nice and hold up. Can't argue about the price. Plus the color doesn't fade.

Have 5 horses and everyone has one! They look extra classy with the twisted rope!!! Love them! (Really wish they still had the old fasioned colors like burgundy, hunter green, navy blue etc though.......)
i will be getting another couple of these. only because what my mare does to the pink color is a sight. easy on and off. does the trick for me. i wash it out hang it to dry.

I own three of these and couldn't be more satisfied with them. The knots are handy for control and groundwork, and not to mention that they are beautiful halters. They fit every horse I tried them on, from arabs to draft crosses. The colours are bright and are easily washable. Definitely recommend!
good training tool!
i purchased the lime green halter almost 2 and a half years ago. its been through war(lol) and is still in amazing shape. i do wash it when its dirty and the color bounces right back. ive used this for ground work, and i just rode (5/31/13) with it on my 25(+) appaloosa gelding braizen. i just wrapped the reins around the clip loops so it looked like a bosale. this worked wonders. will definately buy more!
Can't Beat the Price!
It is a very nice halter for the price. It came in a pretty pink for my chestnut. The rope is twisted tight and I have no problem getting it on. It makes it easy to control my horse. You can't beat the price! I would recommend this halter to anyone.
I like but a few problems...
I liked the rope halter quite a bit, the pressure on the nose was great.. However, I did not appreciate that the knots were very loose, and it really didnt look anything like the picture..

Not nice-looking
I do like this halter. It does it's job and came in a very nice shade of purple. What I did not like at all was that the one I received looked nothing like the halter shows in the picture. Instead of thin, neat twists, the rope was very thick and not nice-looking at all. I wish I had gotten a different rope halter.
Love it
I bought one in Blue for a friend and she loves it and I liked it so I bought one in Purple, but my halter's knots were tied so loose :-/ probably just the luck of the draw but I'd still and will buy it in the future and I would reccomend this to anyone. Great halter, the colors are very nice.

better control than regular rope halter
i have a mare i am working with who is a bit of a handful. this gives me a bit more control with no extra effort on my end. i have been a fan of rope halter since i started training, and i love this twisted style. it adds a bit more pressure in the right spots creating less stress for both horse and rider allowing us to focus on other things than control during leading. i recommend for a horse who a bit pushy or for an owner who would like more control without adding stress to the horse or themselves. be sure not to leave the halter on too loose or the halter does no good though. and too tight and the knots will constantly dig into their face. i even used one on an unruly donkey who was afraid of fly spray and had complete control of his head with light hands, when previously with a regular nylon halter he had gotten away from me before. i am adding these to my training gear.

I haven't tried the clinton anderson halters so i wouldn't know how those work. But i would buy it again!! As for color, i ordered lime green and it it better than the picture shows. Next time im getting pink or purple!!!

I really like this halter. Its sturdy and came in a beautiful royal purple color. Easily adjustable and looks very nice on my bay Morgan mare.

Love this halter
My standard halter just wasnt helping with my OTTB. With this halter he's very responsive and I don't have to worry about using a stud chain to lead him anymore because this one has just enough bite to get his attention. I would recommend this halter to anyone.
The only rope halter I will use now.
All my other rope halters are in the trash now. This one has won my heart. My horses are very responsive and it's an amazing training tool. I will definitely recommend this as it is a lot like the Clinton Anderson rope halter.

They're very nice feeling, fit well, are gorgeous, and the horse is very responsive when wearing them. I used to have to lunge my horses with a bridle, but no longer! They never run through this halter. It's my best training halter and I'm definitely buying more! I've fixed so many ground manner issues with this halter, and it looks great on my horses too. Better than the "training" halters from Parelli or Clinton Anderson or Stacy Westfall. Definitely recommend it to everybody!

Great Halter
I purchased this halter as an alternitave to clinton andersons pricey rope halter.It is a thinner halter than what duh sells but that gives it a little more bite.so it is every bit as useful a training tool just use softer hands.The twisted crown actually gives you more control on the poll which is helpful for your more ansy disrespectful horses.Overall great great halter, great price, nice colors,will buy more

I completly love this halter it isnt stiff but the twist makes it have more contol also when my horse tottally freaked out and stepped on his lead rope because i had lost my grip and rope was dragging behind him and when he stepped on it the halter broke and that was the only way he settled down and was glad it broke but highly recommend it and very bright colors not dull brighter than in picture

It also lays really nicely on his face and forms to fit. I have used it on both my 9 year old paint and my yearling quarter horse who have very different sized and shaped heads :) I really love mine and ordered another!

Its not as stiff as some, but it is stiff rope. It has softened up since using it about a week straight. The hot pink is absolutely beautiful and stands out nicely. My 'face is small and the regular horse size fits wonderfully. Its a very quality halter.
I would say so. It bends and conforms like a rope halter should but is a very good quality for its price. I bought this to use for on my two-year old and I holds pretty well.
No it's not. It is flexible and easy on. But I've had mine for about 2 weeks and love it! For its price it's really a good quality product.
It is stiff at first but it gets better once it is broken in it get better and it fit my girl great

Will this fit a yearling? Or is the nose opening to big ?
BEST ANSWER: Depends on how big the yrling is. It fits my quarter Arab cross (not dish faced) it also worked on my friends thoroughbred baby. I'd say it is almost the same size as a tsc rope halter (tad smaller not much) but better price.

It depends on what breed, it may not fit a Arabian yearling but I believe by 2 you won't have a problem.. They are

Nose opening is too big for a yearling. But it is a great product otherwise.

BEST ANSWER: Yes it should fit. I use this halter on everything from a large pony to a 16 HD percherons draft mule. Lots of adjustability around the throatlatch.
