Product Summary:

Bimectin (Ivermectin) Paste Wormer - Apple-Flavored

Bimectin® Paste is an apple-flavored horse wormer, with a calibrated syringe for accurate dosage. Wwith 1.87mg/g of ivemectin, it's an excellent option for the treatment of nematode or arthropod infestations in horses sensitive to ivermectin. This anthelmintic and boticide controls large and small strongyles, pinworms, ascarids, hairworms, large mouth stomach worms, lungworms, intestinal threadworms and bots. The product is safe to use in horses of all ages and offers broad-spectrum activity against a wide range of debilitating and performance-depriving parasites.

Bimectin is indicated for the treatment of nematode or arthropod infestations in horses due to large strongyles, small strongyles, lungworms (adult and immatures), pinworms (adult and immatures), ascarids (adults and third and fourth stage larvae), hairworms (adults), large-mouth stomach worms (adults), neck threadworms (microfilariae), intestinal threadworms (adults), and stomach bots (oral and gastric stages). Ivermectin is not effective against the encysted larval stages of the small strongyles.

I started using Bimectin a couple of years ago instead of the regular ivermectin. This product is more palatable for the horses and I have less fights trying to get them to take this. Same ivermectin percentage and works just as well. The little extra cost is worth it.

I like Ivermectin wormers, but my mustang strenuously objects to being wormed ... until she smelled this wormer. Now my only problem is keeping her from chewing up the plastic syringe along with the wormer!

I have a miniature horse, she only weighs 200 lb. what do I do with the extra. Do I just throw it away or is there a way that you can save it?
Analie S on Jul 17, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I have minis too. I just recap it and save it. I do store it in the house so it doesn’t overheat.
Can you give it to cats?
A shopper on Jan 16, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Although I understand you can give ivermectin to cats, there is no mention of Bimectin being approved for felines. Especially since it has other ingredients such as apple flavoring, it would be prudent to ask a vet before risking it.
Can I give binectine wormer to a pregnant mare?
A shopper on Jun 5, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I'm sorry I can't help. You would need to look at the package insert, and I don't have one to refer to. We have only retired horses here. We have gone to using a continuous wormer with twice yearly doses of wormer during their vet visit. Good luck with your mare. I wonder if you can't search online for the product information.
What type of wormer do I use in winter?
A shopper on Jan 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have my animals on a three month rotation. In October I wormed with Safe Guard. January 1st we went with the Ivermectin line (there are several). I prefer an apple flavor because it seems to provide some consistency with the more finicky mule stock. I think rotation is the key word, but you'll find someone to disagree with this assessment.
how often do you give the wormer?
A shopper on Dec 13, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I give wormer based on my vet's recommendation depending on what the egg count is in the stool exam.
can you give it to a mare with a 2 day old foal?
A shopper on Feb 28, 2014
BEST ANSWER: That is a question you should call and ask your vet.
Asking aqiestion to a vet cost nothing. They are happy to answer that question

What is a good rotaion of wormers for horses?
A shopper on Sep 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: That depends on several factors, such as geographic region, horse's age and health, former deworming history, and living conditions. Ideally a fecal test should be performed first to determine what parasites need to be targeted, so unnecessary deworming doesn't cause buildup of resistance. We also have to recommend that you check with your veterinarian, who will be familiar with your horse's entire health picture.
What are some active ingredients?
A shopper on Dec 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The active ingredient is Ivermectin 1.87%.
