My daughter just got these at the beginning of spring. Nice looking, well made, material as described, only complaint She has is : boot is heavy when wearing! She gets a real workout before doing anything ... that's just walking from the house to the barn! Another little thing is if you tend to have a slender calf they seem to run a little wide which is fine but don't expect them to hug your calf. (Unless hers is really slender) But She does like them! And I'm sure they will be great & keep her feet warm come next winter! Shes glad she made the purchase!

Confusing reviews on sizing
I ordered a US size 9 as one reviewer said she wore an 81/2, as I do, and found the boots ran small. The 9's were far too large, so I ordered a size 8. These, too, are too large. My heel slips up and down. I don't like to layer socks, as I find it makes the boot too tight and does not allow for natural foot movement. Perhaps a 7 would fit right, but I am not going to pay to have the boots reshipped. I kept the size 9's for my daughter who has bigger feet than I do.They seen durable so far. I have gotten them wet and not had any leaking. They have kept my feet warm in single digit weather. I have not, however, tried riding in them, so I do not know how well they would keep my feet warm when I am not moving.

$35 price is about $32 too much
So, I wear and 8 1/2 or 9 and ordered a 9. They're qoite wide, but the kicker is the ankle/calf of the boot are HUGE! I wear a size 4, athletic build but have LARGE, sturdy calves and ankles. I didn't make it halfway down my 600ft path from home to barn when the calves had sagged down around my ankles; literally halfway down. These were awful to teach in for the day and even worse to ride in. Don't waste your money!

Perfect for mucking around on cold days
I bought this boot to ride in on cold/wet days- not sure if my foot will fit in the stirrups with the foot area as bulky as it is. (Like a duck boot or lace/zip up mucker.) Definitely great for sloppy pens and pastures. The foot area is kind of wide, but it is nice and fleecy and will keep you warm while you're working with your horses. Not so clumpy and loose that if you need to get out of the way you are afraid you won't be able to, but I have very skinny ankles/calves and there is definitely a bit of sagging going on at the top. Overall they are awesome and will keep me warm on cold or wet days.

It's really a little early to review this purchase, but they keep bugging me to do so. I'm actually returning my initial purchase and requesting a smaller size. For some reason, I only saw a couple of reviews posted when I ordered but when I received the boots and discovered they were way too big in the foot, I went back online to see if a size down was available and found a number of reviews that had found exactly the same issue. Needless to say, I really haven't tested these boots out yet. Now it's a question of whether or not we'll get sufficiently winter weather for me to truly try them out. We're supposed to get back into the 70s again tomorrow!

Good At First
At first the boots were really good, nice and warm and waterproof. But very loose in the ankle, and after only one week 4 of the snaps broke right off. If the snaps were made of metal or any other material than plastic, the boots would have been better. I am going to have someone make mine into a zipper on the side, because there is no use trying to fix the snaps. Otherwise the boot is really nice, I even rode in mine and they worked great.

they fit my fat calves!
we had a cold few weeks from 1-10 degrees my feet were not coldand I didnt even use heavy socks. I usually cant fit into some bootswith my small feet and big calves but no problem with these boots. I was so happy I bought another pair

Poor quality
My buckles on both sides broke :( they should be metal and not plastic. Other than that these boots are amazing.

I wanted a warm waterproof boot that was not leather as I am vegan. The boots are all of that and I actually wore them during the winter to court. They are a little bulky to fit in stirrups as one reviewer indicated that she purchased for her daughter to ride during the winter but the boots I already purchased I will use this winter for the barn and purchase another pair for the bad weather predicted for upstate New York.

Have room to tuck jeans in and layer socks to ride in winter.

needed a new pair of boots to ride in and these were on sale.
NICOLE S on Dec 15, 2014
They look very sturdy and the soles are thick and will grip well on snow and slippery surfaces. I like the height of them. Snow shouldn't get inside these boots! They received many 5 star reviews and I hope to add mine to the list when they get here.

Purchased these for my 9 year old daughter and she rode in them all winter (2012-2013). They held up great and are a good price considering she's growing, so we need to buy new every year. She said they were very comfortable and kept her warm during NE winters.
KRISTIN D on Nov 28, 2014
A friend has these boots and loves them. I saw them on her and she was riding in them and everything. She said they were very warm. I saw them on sale so I had to grab a pair.

I need winter boots, so I got them in the off season, all my friends have these though, and they seem to hold up good
Katherine M on Apr 26, 2014
I bought a pair of these boots at the beginning of one of the worst winters I've ever experienced; through snow, freezing temperatures, more snow, sleet, etc these boots never leaked, never let my feet get cold--they are FANTASTIC. You will love them, I promise you--buy them while they are on sale! Grabbing a second pair at a great price.

How do i know the size for the boots?
A shopper on Aug 4, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Please view the link to the size chart below

http://www.horse.com/ContentFiles/Sizing_Charts/E002943.jpg
Are these men's sizes or women's?
A shopper on Nov 30, 2014
BEST ANSWER: These boots are unisex sizing.
so are the sizes in the dropdown menu men's sizes or women?
kathy on Jul 31, 2015
BEST ANSWER: ah I don't know, but they run large, about a size larger than you would usually wear, yes, I'd say mens size. I returned them, they were just too large for me, I wear a 8.5 to 9, so I ordered the 9 and it was like a 10, my heavy ski socks would not have even helped. Hope this helps ya, good luck
Are the sizes in the drop down menu men's sizes or women's sizes. The answers below just say to look at the sizing chart. The chart says a women's 10=a men's 8 but doesn't say which one is the number in the drop down box so I'm not sure if I should order the 10 or the 8. Another answer says the sizes are unisex. How is that possible if there is a two size difference on the sizing chart between the woman's size and the mens size? I'm so confused!
A shopper on Sep 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: When I ordered they asked for European size. I take a size 7 to a 7.5 shoe. So I looked @ the European size chart I was a size 38 or a men's size 5. If you are a size 10 woman's then you would be a size 41 European size or size 8 men's. They do run a little big but I wear extra thick socks with them.
I want to make sure I order the correct size of these boots for my daughter. Her mucking boots are a size 5 (I think mens), she wears a size 7 womens running shoe and 7 ariat boot. so I think I should order a 7?
A shopper on Nov 18, 2014
How do i order a specific size?
A shopper on Dec 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I ordered mine a half size bigger than my normal size in order to accommodate heavier socks and that worked out perfectly for me.
Can I buy replacement liners for these boots?
Steve C on Feb 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: That particular option is not available.
Do these boots zip ?
A shopper on Jan 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No they do not have a zipper. I find they are a bit hard to get on and off. I purchased them for winter riding but the are very bulky and loose on my heel.
Are these boots safe to ride in? What is the tread on the bottom like? Is it like a rubber boot or more like a riding boot?
A shopper on Sep 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: My daughter has used these boots to ride over several New England winters and she's never complained about them. The tread on the bottom is similar to that of a snow boot and is completely waterproof. They work well not only in the stirrup, but trekking through snowy paddocks to bring in horses. They are a bit on the bulky side if one isn't used to a heavy winter riding boot, but nearly all the girls at the barn have used these boots and they've all liked them (particularly for the warmth and easy on/off aspect).
Is this size 9 a man's size 9?
A shopper on Mar 8, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I wish that this was a straight forward answer. It's a European size 40. We ordered the size 8 first, based on some reviews. I have four people in our house that normally wear a woman's size 9. Out of those four people, one person fit the size 8 perfectly. We then ordered a couple pair of the size 9. The other three opted for the size 9 boots and out of those three, two found those to fit perfectly. One person would like half sizes and will have to be content wearing a couple extra layers of socks!

However, ALL of them are thrilled with how warm and toasty these boots have kept their feet! We have other name brand boots and in comparison, find these boots to be much warmer and much lighter!
Do they have hard (steel or conposit) toes?
A shopper on Jan 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: My Ovation Winter Boots 2015. Do not have Steele toes. They are rubber and very warm. They are not true to fit. I have a 38 (I Wear 7) and can wear two pairs of wool socks still room. Hope this is useful.
I wear a women's size 10 what size should I buy? Should I get the size 10 or should I get the size 8(which is what the sizing chart says if they are mens sizes)? The sizing chart says nothing about unisex sizing. I need to know which sizes are in the drop down menu. The womens or the mens?
A shopper on Sep 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I wear a 9.5 women's and bought the 10. They were a little roomy and I probably should have gotten a smaller size. So I would suggest the 8.
Are these returnable if they don't fit?
A shopper on Nov 9, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Don't know about returns, but they do run large. I wear a 10 and would have liked to have a 9.5, even wearing two pairs of socks!
