Product Summary:

Cashel Boomer's Hock Socks

We have all been faced with the difficult task of bandaging and treating a horse’s hock. As an answer to this common dilemma, Cashel created this all-in-one bandage with hook and loop closures especially for the hock. The closure straps are equipped with elastic which allows you to vary the tension and they also help the bandage stay put. Use over a medication or with your favorite liniment. Sold in pairs.

This was what I was looking for.
My horse has a serious hock injury that resulted in extreme swelling that we had previously been unable to reduce. This product allows me to sweat the hock continuously which has reduced the swelling by 3 inches in 10 days. So far the boot is holding up well and the mare does not mind wearing it all. Great product to have on hand.

Good idea, bad execution
I had to return the first set because it tore after using for only a week. The replacement pair tore in exactly the same place after a little more than a week. The idea is good, but the materials used are not. The "boot" needs a gusset with elastic on the back to keep the boot from tearing.

Almost perfect!
These are the best hock boot product I've found yet for protecting my old gelding's hocks at night from sores while getting up and down. My only complaint is that are aren't terribly sturdy. We're on our second pair in just a few months.

what does a hock sock do?
A shopper on Feb 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It basically goes over hock bandages to keep them in place and protected. I LOVE mine. Made a huge difference when we were treating a hock injury and the resulting joint infection. I was going through (and wasting) massive amounts of vet wrap that wasn't staying in place until I found this!
Does this product contain neoprene? My horse is allergic to neoprene.
Lynnie on Sep 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It does not contain neoprene. Cashel advises us that it's made out of cotton with polyfill cushioning.
Mine don't stay up more than a day, no matter how snug I make them. Suggestions?
sheri p on Jul 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This is a common problem with hock or knee wraps. My own vet had suggested a standing wrap underneath to keep the hock wrap from sliding down. Keep in mind that if you try that, both rear legs would be need a standing bandage -- you should never wrap just one leg.
