Very bulky, and slips a lot
I was surprised the the underside was a synthetic fleece instead of neoprene. It slipped all over the place, like silk sheets. I tried placing an old bareback pad with the tacky too underside under it. That helped with the sliding. While riding the sides felt very lumpy and bulky. One side actually made my inner calf sore. The seat is very high, giving you almost no contact with the horse. On a plus side, my old gelding seemed to be very comfortable with it, even if I wasn't.

Soft Saddle Slippage
This is my second soft saddle. Overall the quality and comfort of this product is great. The style is attractive too. Here's the problem--after even a short ride, the saddle slips back so far that the girth is around my horse's middle. I've tried it with a breast collar and the d-rings aren't placed in the same position as they are on a typical western saddle. So the breast collar rubbed on my horse's chest and removed hair. Needless to say, I'm disappointed as I rode for hours using my first soft saddle and, while there was slippage, it was never this bad.

So far so good.
I just got this saddle and only used it a few times. It fits my quarter-type horse well. I do feel like I'm riding high but I think the more I use it the better it will shape itself to her and to me. It is firm but there is nothing hard - that will make it great for long trail rides. My Cashel breast collar fits perfectly - I don't know why others said they had a hard time with this.

Comfortable alternative to a bareback pad
Very lightweight, yet durable. Kind of expensive, but couldn't find anything comparable. Like it for those quick short rides, but also comfortable enough for a longer trail ride. Replaced the stirrups ( cheap very light plastic# and leathers#lighweight nylon straps) with aluminum stirrups and black leather stirrup leathers for safety, so it cost another $100, but worth it.

Very comfy seat
After sitting in this at the store, loved the feel of the seat & the rough out material you do not slide in this seat. After receiving the saddle I put it on my horse & thank goodness I had a thicker pad than the Cashel felt pad made for this. The bottom back of this saddle is very hard across the horses backbone & definitely needs extra padding to avoid a very sore back. My other problem is the stirrup rigging, design of rigging pushes out on the fender flap & rubs the inside of your shins just under your knees. Unhappy with that with the first 15 minutes of riding. The rigging swings way back, not good, but not forward because of the interference of the fender flap & the cushion to keeps your leg in the right spot. Just not a comfy position for trail riding. Another disappointment, no rings to attach your breast collar to! Tried hooking it to the cinch ring, but it's far back you need extenders to have it reach & fit and it makes is also sit on top of the cushion/stop for your leg.

Not For Me
I was so excited to order and receive this saddle. I had looked at it several times and it appeared to be just what I was looking for. Unfortunately, I was wrong. I also purchased the liner pad that was recommended to go with it. The pad is very thin and not at all a good value. The saddle itself was the main problem. It slid back (at a walk) and placed me in an extremely uncomfortable position. I tried two different girths and two different pads. Same results. I tried repositioning the seat (it velcro's in place) and it did not help. I am sad to say the saddle did not work for me.

I love this saddle. It's super light weight and uncomplicated. I use my western cutback pad (I highly reccomend a cutback pad) since it is treeless. And a breast collar attached to where the girth hooks up. The girth doesn't tighten quite as much as a normal saddle due to the soft nature of the saddle and it does slip back and a little when you first get on so I don't reccomend this for new riders. If you have confidence in your seat and are just looking for a quick saddle and go deal, this is the saddle for you! Super comfy seat, no back pain or discomfort in my body at all after riding 2 hours+! The seat is thick however so you do feel high off your horses back, but with a confident seat you get used to it. Great product!

I am trying to decide between the Mustang Soft Ride Saddle and the Cashel G2 Soft Saddle without being able to see them in person. Can you give me your opinion of the quality and durability of each? My friend has the Mustang soft saddle and loves it, except from her knees to her ankles she gets soaked and dirty from her sweaty horse. Does the Cashel cover this area better? The reviews sound like the Mustang is better for the horses back and the Cashel sounds rougher on horses back, any opinion? You are able to see them both, so which would you purchase?

BEST ANSWER: I have not seen the Mustang soft saddle, but I don't like the Cashel. I love the idea of a soft saddle, but when I put it on my horse, I was not happy. It positions the rider too far back on the horse, and is not very comfortable. Besides that, I was not happy with the way it looks on my horse.

I ride a gaited horse how does this saddle fit on a horse 1100 lbs, 14.2 hands? Is there a hand hold handle? Thank you. Shirley D.
A shopper on Mar 8, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I ride a TW who's 15.3. The fit totally depends on the particular horse. It does have flexibility in the tree area. There is a fabric handle (where a horn would be).
Is a saddle blanket or pad needed with this soft saddle?
A shopper on Mar 23, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The saddle is great. Yes, you should provide your own pad.

Thanks for asking.
Would this work for a gaited horse?
breanna on Jul 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It probably depends more on the the build of your horse than on the gait. The saddle is very comfortable to sit in but I use it mostly as a break when my rear end has been too long in a firmer saddle. I feel a bit higher off of my horse and it seems to sway a bit at faster gaits even though I have it pretty secure with a breast collar. (I had no trouble fitting the breast collar to it) It seems to be well made and is very light but I wouldn't train or show with it. Awfully nice for a long day on the trail, though.
What kind of saddle pad works with this saddle and where are they sold?
A shopper on Apr 20, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I recently bought one of these saddles. I just use my western saddle pad with it. It doesn't look that great but it works fine. From what I've heard, these saddles are actually made so that you don't need a saddle pad, because they have soft padding built in. I just use one to protect the saddle, because a oad is easier to clean than the bottom of the saddle! I believe any saddle pad would work.
