Hairs fall out
When I took this product out of the packaging, the hair was already starting to fall out. I swished it around a few times and more hairs continued to fall out. The poor quality of this item is shameful, given how much it costs. Completely ridiculous!! However, I really wanted a fly whisk for trail riding and there are not a lot of options out there, so I squeezed some glue into the base where the hairs attach to the stick, and the hairs have stopped falling out...for now. I'm not sure how long my trick will work, but I am very disappointed in the quality of this product. I definitely would not recommend it, unless you are also buying some glue.

keeps flies away
This whisk is a great companion while riding or hiking (especially in wooded areas) I've had these whisks before so my horse is used to them and he likes it. Horses flash their tails in each others faces anyway. I think it is made pretty well and the handle is long enough to get those flies under your horses belly while riding.

Doesn't hold up
I thought this would be nice to carry on trail rides this spring/summer to ward off the bugs, but the hairs fall out non-stop, making it next to useless after only 2 rides. Looks nice at first, but not very well constructed.

Very effective on the trail for both horse and rider and even hiking in wooded areas. This product looked like it was made well and thought I'd give it a try.
