Product Summary:

After an energetic ride you may notice an unequal sweat pattern. This could indicate there is an area where the saddle is not equally distributing the weight, causing unequal pressure on the animal’s back. You can add or subtract felt shims to help alleviate the pressure, creating a more comfortable ride for your horse. The Pressure Relief Pad has a durable cotton duck top with a 1” Wool felt bottom. The pockets contain 1/2” Wool felt shims, which can be removed to better fit your saddle.

Defective
The pad I received was, I believe, defective or irregular. I ordered black, the color was fine. The construction of the pad was crooked. It would not fit my horse properly due to it being imbalanced. I couldn't get the front even on him; if I force it to be even when it's off my horse, the spine is crooked or twisted. Waiting to hear back on what to do.

Love this pad!
This is the second pad I have purchased. The first one I use, the second was purchased as a gift for a friend who works as a ranch hand and rides MILES every day. I love the versatility you get with the removable shims. Makes for an easy adjustment for a different horse. My friend also says the pad has made a big difference in the comfort of his horse.

Love this pad.
I have one like it except the wither isn't completely cut out like this one. This pad is better for the horse I bought it for. I have had the other diamond wool pad for a year still looks brand new.

Purchased this for my 32yr old QH that has started to loose some of his topline, thus hard to fit with a regular pad. The cutback is definitely the answer to not putting xtra pressure on his withers and he's no longer fussy being cinched. The shims are an added plus as some days we just do flat walking for muscle toning, and then other days we haul out to do trails with limited hills. Got the red as we do more cool day in the woods riding as opposed to hot weather rides, it's a nice vibrant color. Waited for the best % off and Free Shipping offer, got it at a great price and definitely recommend the product and Horse.Com's ease of purchasing and handling.

It Solved My Problem
I have a 12 yr old Gated Tennessee walking horse, who has developed a slightly protruding spine near the rear portion of her back under the saddle. I couldn't ride her because of the pain it would create. I bought this pad at the advise of a friend and tried it out.Fantastic, it keeps the saddle completely off of her spine, she shows no sign of pain, and I'm back to enjoying nice rides with my gaited horse.I do recommend this pad for horses with minor back problems.

Would this fit a high withered horse?
sherry t on Jul 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The cutback on this pad is 4 inches. This will help with a high wither horse but depending on how large the withers more of a cutback may be needed. Adjusting the shims in the pockets will help relieve pressure.
How do you clean this pad?
A shopper on Jan 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Diamond Wool saddle pads are made from wool felt that has a high Wool content. To avoid shrinking, avoid hot water or heat during drying. Occasionally brush your pad with a stiff bristled brush. This will help dislodge hair, dirt and sweat, which will extend your pads useful life span. After use, your wool pad should be placed where it can air out and dry more efficiently.

To Clean Diamond Wool Pads
Use a soft cloth or sponge, a mild shampoo or detergent free soap (such as Ivory), and tepid water.
Slightly dampen the cloth or sponge and add a small amount of soap.
Work up a small lather on soiled areas.
Rinse with clean water.
Allow to air dry.
