good product - durable and does what its supposed to
Great product. Lightweight, and adjustable for a comfortable fit. Very durable. This is the second one I bought. The first one is starting to frey a bit and rubs my horses face where the webbing and rubber are attached - but that one is almost 3 years old - still usable, but a new one was needed. It needs to be cleaned daily after use, and the webbing and rubber stands up well. Most importantly, my horse has not foundered since the first time three years ago, since he wears the mask when turned out to pasture.

This was a very good price for this grazing muzzle. I have used one like it before, It lasted 2 years before the horse got enough of the rubber chewed out of the bottom that she was getting too much to eat.

Miniature horse grazing muzzle.
I'm satisfied with this muzzle. However, I had to adjust all the straps to their smallest size. The muzzle is still a little too large. The company, I believe, would do well to make a muzzle that is a little smaller.

Economy Grazing Muzzle with Halter
Economy is the correct description of this halter. Disappointed it did not have a break away with it like the previous one I purchased which was more expensive. It works well for this horse who had never worn a grazing muzzle previously. It does slip the setting and I have to check them each day. After her third day she had it off but as long as it is checked for fit daily it has worked well with this smaller Quarter Horse.

It is working well
I've had this muzzle about 3 weeks. My pony has been banished to the barn for most of the last year because she just can't handle all day on grass. I put the muzzle on her and watched her carefully. I take it off of her for a couple of hours in the evening (in the barn) when all the horses are stalled to eat. She is doing well. She has managed to get the muzzle off one day but I was out of town and someone else put it on her. She quickly learned how to graze and eat a treat through the hole in the bottom. I'm liking a lot and I know she is happier being turned out.

Durable, easily adjusted
This grazing muzzle may be a lifesaver for my overeater who hates to be locked in a stall while her buddies are in the pasture.
April 17, 2017
This muzzle is great if your horse is not tough on them.
It fits nicely and stays on and the price is good but my horse tore the hole larger in just over a week so if you have a horse that is tough on muzzles, it might not last very long. It seemed heavy duty but I guess not.

This fits and works really well. I actually use it to keep a 4 yr old from chewing on lead ropes, saddle parts and the horse trimmer when she is tied to the hitch rack.

KAYLA L on May 9, 2015
it worked very good. Need to make the hole a little bigger and check the fit, but the horse really liked it because it kept the flies off her nose while grazing and if it came off, she would wait for you to put back on.

SANDRA D on Jun 28, 2014
price. I have bought the more expensive ones and I have been disappointed in how poorly they have held up on the bottoms. Horses have enlarged the holes on the bottoms for grazing very quickly.

JEANNE S on May 11, 2014
My horse founders easily. I tried keeping him in a pen all summer but he was miserable and bored. I bought a couple of these muzzles last year & he is much happier now. The buckles tend to break so I need to have a couple of extras around.
marilyn a on May 10, 2014
I've probably bought 20 of these over the past 3 years. It is a good piece of mind to know that my horses aren't going to get TOO much grass when they don't need to.

needed two for our mini's. they are too ready for the grass.
P F on Mar 13, 2014
I purchased this one for a friend, her last one lasted two years on a horse that does everything he can to get them off. Can't beat the price. Two years ago I had also ordered two for my mare who usually leaves them on. The first one lasted the whole season great, put it on at the beginning of the next season and basket was ripped off on 2nd or 3rd day - a few mins after I put it on! Had the back up one for just in case - so economical to just buy an extra which is still fully intact.
ILKA M on Mar 12, 2014
These last just as long as the much higher priced ones.

would a donkey take a pony size grazing halter?
mariko on Apr 18, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I'm afraid I don't know. I ordered a horse sized muzzle for a friend and she thought the basket was a little on the narrow size for her 14.3 h horse with an average sized head although she feels it works well enough. Years ago I bought the horse size for my 16 h warmblood cross mare and the basket was a little narrow but by cutting most of the way through the top band it fit her pretty well (and luckily for me she didn't try too hard to get it off). Sorry I don't have more information to offer - good luck!

Is this muzzle safe to leave on all the time? Can a pony still drink with it on? We have a foundered pony that can't be out on grass all summer.
A shopper on Jun 6, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I have left muzzles on several horses for several days at a time however since the horses were fed twice daily (small amounts to go with supplements) they did get a little break from it and I was able to make sure their muzzle and face were okay under it. There usually is some form of a break away feature on the muzzle (often velcro) although most of mine were able to "break away" by tearing the muzzle in any number of places, sometimes at the Velcro section. These were not too expensive so I usually had an extra one on hand and they usually lasted a year or so. The worst problem I had was the sides of the halter (cheek pieces) rubbing the sides of their face. Horse(dot)com offers little neoprene protectors that you can buy separately and they attach to the cheek pieces to protect their face from rub marks - these worked very well. On my warmblood cross I vertically cut the top band of the basket part to allow her bulky jaw more freedom and not rub her. She didn't try too hard to remove the muzzle so it worked well. My only concern had been wearing the muzzle during the day during our hazy hot and humid summers in northern Vriginia but usually the horses were brought into a stall during those hot days to let them breath a little better and to have a break from wearing it. Good luck with your pony!
Is a cob smaller than a horse and bigger than a pony ?
A shopper on Jul 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have an Arab, Quarter horse and Appaloosa. The horse size fits both my Quarter horse and my Appaloosa but way too big for my Arab because she has has a finer and smaller bone structure. I buy the Cobb size for her and am able to adjust it enough to fit. It also fits the other two although leaves less room for adjustments..
Does anyone notice the bad overwhelming smell of this muzzle? It is awful. I can't even use it.
Cindy M on Apr 18, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I have the horse size and sometimes it also smells but I found if I rinse it in a bucket of water it is alright when I go to put it back on.

How large is the grazing hole on the bottom of the muzzle on the mini sized muzzle? My mini donkey wears a grazing muzzle with a hole that is about 1 inch in diameter and she still gets too much grass. Does this muzzle have a smaller grazing hole?
Emily A on Mar 14, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hi Emily, I ordered this muzzle for my mini donkey thinking the bottom hole would be smaller, but it is not. Also, it has the open spaces on the sides which surprised me, because I thought by picture that it was more solid and would prevent grazing, but it just slows it!! Other than that I am happy with the muzzle and will put something in bottom of muzzle when the grass starts to green up. Karen
How big is the hole for them to eat? I have a larger one now and looking for something smaller
A shopper on Apr 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It's about 2" across. A little bigger than a quarter...but be aware...that part is rubber & your horse will enlarge it after a while. Mine did & despite me reinforcing it, neither of them are useable until I find a better way to reinforce the rubber & make the hole smaller. 🤔
length of muzzle?
A shopper on Apr 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I bought horse size and the "basket" is about 8 inches. These work SO well if you've got a horse that founders on grass. To keep it in place I put a regular halter on over the top, Sooner or later she'd lose the whole thing and I'd have to start over but it sure kept her from founder. Jeanne in Colorado
How is this different from the tough-1 poly-nylon muzzle?
