My farm is basically sandy soil, so I treat my eight horses for the first 7 days of each month. I have not had sand colic since I started this treatment and one bucket lasts 3-4 months for 8 horses.

How does this compare with Sand-Clear?
A shopper on Sep 27, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I like it better because it's pellets. It does not fly out of his bucket on a windy day. You give it for one week out of the month not every day.
shipping charge?
A shopper on Apr 24, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The web site will not show a shipping charge and order total until the delivery address is put in during checkout. You don't have to finalize the order, but an address is needed to have the shipping cost come up. You are also welcome to call our Customer Care team for assistance. We are available 8AM-8PM weekdays, Eastern time at 888-809-0751.
D'ANN D on Nov 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I feed my horse one scoop per day for one week out of the month. (use 2 small scoops or one large scoop) Make sure you don't feed the Equus with other supplements as they will "bind" with the psyllium and pass right through the horse's system. Feed the Equus separately ie: Equus in the AM, other supplements in the PM. Each horse would require the 7 scoop per month (one scoop per day for one week a month) Hope this helps.
How many milligrams psyllium seed husk are a daily recommended serving?
None y on Jul 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Directions for Use:
For maintenance, per 1,000 lb. horse: 2 scoops (4 oz.) per day for 7 days per month. It is also generally accepted that a daily feeding of Equus Psyllium Fiber Blend for a full month is advisable when starting a psyllium program.
What is the percentage of psyllium?
A shopper on Nov 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I do not know but I know the product works great for my horses. They are checked twice a year for sand and always come up clean. I do feed a bit differently than directions which my vet said was fine. I feed 2 scoops twice a week.
How many scoops are included in each size?
A shopper on Jul 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: You're going to have to do your own math on this. (Or try other sites that carry Equus psyllium and they may have number of servings). But for a 20 lb tub (which is what I buy) here's how I figure the servings. The scoop holds 2 ounces (for all size tubs). 16 oz in a pound. At 20 pounds X 16 = 320 oz divided by a 2 oz scoop = 160 scoops. The actual servings depend on how many scoops you give your horses per feeding. In other words, if you give your horse 2 scoops per feeding (4 oz), you will have 80 servings (but still 160 scoops). Your 10 lb tub will have 80 scoops.
I am considering purchasing the 50# bag, how many horses will that treat?
GARY S on Jul 5, 2016
BEST ANSWER: For maintenance, per 1,000 lb. horse: 2 scoops (4 oz.) per day for 7 days per month.
Does this product come with a scoop?
Laura S on Mar 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have used about 4 canisters/year for several years and the pre-measure scoop had been in every canister but one.

My 23 y.o. quarter horse has been experiencing (not all the time) watery stools for about the past year. His "cheeks" are always crusted with the dried after math of this, and sometimes gets on his back legs. My vet has suggested a daily probiotic, as well as a daily dose of 2oz. psyllium. I currently give him psyllium 7 days of the month for sand collic. Is it really okay to give him psyllium on a daily basis, long term? Thank you for your help.
Debi K on Oct 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Normally these pellets are given monthly for a week...but if your vet tells you it's fine to give your horse 2 oz daily then there shouldn't be an issue I don't think. I know my vet highly recommends this product which I was happy to hear since I've been using it for years.
What is the shelf life of this product? I want to buy the larger bucket, better price.
Cindy D on Aug 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The recommended shelf life for the product is 3 years from date of manufacture.
What is the recommended dosage for Equus Psyllium Pellets? My horses weigh 900-1000 lbs.
Ellie D on Jul 24, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I have used this product for years as a precaution since south Texas pastures are very dry and dusty. I follow directions on container which is two scoops once a day for seven days. I feedy horses dry pellets once a day so I just add the psyllium to that. They seem to like the taste and would probably eat it even by itself.
