I use the 16 gallon heated water buckets, and like them very much
KELLY C on Apr 13, 2016
These are handy to have in the winter. they are easier to clean than the bigger tubs. My one complaint would be that they keep the water too warm. My mini will not drink from it when its that warm so I have to unplug during the day.
STEPHANIE F on Dec 24, 2015
So I don't have to break ice and remove from tub and so my horses won't be drinking ice water.

Where can I get a replacement heating element for this?
Kaaren L on Oct 27, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Farm Innovators #HT-200 >>>> This is the item number from Farm Innovators. To order the replacement heating elements you must order from them directly. You can call the following number and provide them with bucket info and they can help you from there. 574-936-5096.
i live in Northern Ontario, the winters can get to around minus thirty-forty Celsius which is around minus 20-40 Fahrenheit. I'm worried that this bucket won't be able to hold up to the cold winters, anyone in Canada (or somewhere colder) successfully use this product?
Sofia on Aug 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: hen water temperatures fall to (approximately) 35 degrees, the heater will turn on. It will then shut off automatically until water temperature falls toward freezing.
how many amps does this pull?
Kelly on Nov 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: 1.667 amps
Has anyone used this with an extension cord? I know that it says not to, but I don't have any outlets near my pasture, so I would have to run an extension cord out to it.
Alison P on Oct 27, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I use these every winter with an extension cord but it is a heavy duty contractor type cord and I use the protective covers where they plug into one another for weather protection. I also try to elevate the connection off of the ground because I live in rainy Western Washington. I have had no problems with them but do not use a regular household extension cord. SJC - Washington
Why can't you use an extension cord?
Sharon W on Nov 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I believe they have to add that just as a safety thing--I totally have to use one--I would say, though,I use a heavy duty one, so as not to take chances of overloading a line. Buying and using this tub has been hands-down the best thing I ever did for my boys--even the barn cats love it!!
Is this a good bucket for goats to have water on cold days?
A shopper on Jan 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Absolutely! I bought this for my horse's last year & it works like a champ. I also use the smaller heated buckets in their stalls. It sure beats breaking up ice before going to work. The large bucket keeps the water almost too warm, so you have to add some cold. Mine is in the barn, so it may be different keeping it outside.
Does the heat turn off if the weather is above freezing or is the heat always on?
sandra s on Oct 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This tub keeps the water pretty warm so no, it must stay on above freezing BUT there is a regulator, so it does turn off at maybe 50. We do not notice a huge electrical increase when we have 8 tubs running, so I do think they are pretty efficient.
How warm does it make the water?
Kim R on Jan 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The water stays perfect for drinking. It just makes sure the water doesn’t freeze. My goats do well drinking the water my horses love it as well helps stop colic cause they drink enough water during the cold winter.
read one of reviews saying this tub needs to be grounded with copper wire. is that accurate? or can you just plug it in and use it as is? . They said horses were getting shocked and wouldn't drink until it was grounded
lisa b on Feb 8, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The tub comes with a three prong grounded plug. You can just plug it in and use it. Horses love the heated water and have no hesitation in drinking from the tub. I would buy another if I had the need.
Why can't you use an extension cord? I have no electricity near my horses. Of course I would be using the proper heavy duty extension cords for outside.
Janet O on Nov 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I use heavy duty cords for mine and the have worked fine but they are inside the barn so they are out of the weather.
Can I use this to soak my horse's hay? Concerned about the heating element being inside the bucket.
Kathianne S on Dec 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes. I feel that there is no reason for concern. The heating element is not fully exposed in the water. The heating element is surrounded by a slotted enclosure made of the same material as the rest of the tub.
Is the plastic BTA free?
A shopper on Oct 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I don't know if it is BTA. My horses have used this container every winter and have been fine.
