Equispot - it works
Works well for about 2 weeks. Great for mosquitos as well as flies. Horses calm down within half an hour of application and are comfortable. Might burn a bit when first applied to some horses.
June 3, 2017
Great Product
Live in an area with ticks and as long as applied every two weeks as directed keeps ticks off horses. We do supplement with fly spray during fly season.

Great product for tick control.
I buy this product all the time. I use it on all my horses. It repels ticks and kills the one that are already attached. It is a must have if you do a lot of trail riding.

The best for ticks!!
I run a retirement farm with horses out 24/7. Nothing keeps the ticks off like Equispot. And the Horse.com price can't be beat!

Love this product.
I have used this product for many years. If I had one wish is that it lasted longer than 14 days.
July 6, 2016
Great fly control
Been using this for couple of years now. Also feeding MVP flies away. Wears off fast around the legs, my horses are out 24/7. I think the wet grass washes it off. I reapply every two weeks....

I have a donkey that the flies would not leave alone. He would get open sores on his legs from fly bites and hated being sprayed. The equispot worked wonders. The flies left him alone for the season.
CHRIS O on Mar 20, 2017
I live in a very high mosquito area of irrigated pasture. This is the only brand that really works! Highly effective and virtually protects from those biting insects!

Flies are out of control at our barn in spite of daily mucking, and fly spraying, fly predators and fans. I just have to do something to help our mare. She has little fly bites all around the coronary band on all 4 feet, and some abrasions from her scratching them!
Dee P on Sep 30, 2016
It works - you had the best price I could find!

This is a great "bug" deterrant. We use this, along with our daily fly spray and we do not pick up ticks and we also have never had problems with "turkey mites" which are TICK larvae.

ANN B on Dec 9, 2015
Added protection from the flies and a product that works.
Linnea K on Nov 12, 2015
Since we have had an abundance of rain this year, the biting flies are ferocious. I decided to give this product a try to help my horse tolerate the biting flies better this year.
I have always only needed to use fly spray, traps and predators to control the fly populations. The rain is making that nearly impossible this summer and the flies have started biting me too. I am hoping that adding this to the routine will help.
DENISE M on Jul 5, 2015
This is a great topical spot on product, we use it in addition to occasional fly spray.

need to control ticks
mindy s on Oct 31, 2014
I've used this before with success. Living in tick central, it's hard to keep the little buggers away without permanently stalling my horses. While nothing is perfect this product really does help reduce the numbers.
NANCY A on Oct 9, 2014
Best for flys and ticks. We have 60+ horses and this is the only thing works for us. It usually lasts 12-15 days depending on how much rain we get. Our thin skinned TB's hate it if oil is squirted on them as directed, it seems to burn or just the heavy oil bothers them, they would run away as soon as they smelled us, went caught we had to restrain them to apply, now we put on with disposable rubber glove and they are happy.
Julie R on Oct 7, 2014
Awesome fly repellent for 2 whole weeks

CAROL G on Feb 23, 2014
Can't say enough good things about these drops! Here in south Texas the flies drive us all mad. Most horses can go almost a full 14 days before re-application is needed. A must for yours and your horse's sanity!

CHRIS O on Mar 20, 2017
how many applications does this pkg provide?
A shopper on Feb 24, 2014
BEST ANSWER: About 1 500 lb horse takes one application which lasts up to 4 weeks. A smaller horse would only need half the dose. If you have anther horse to put the remaining on, like I do then you don't waste any.
Also if you have a sensitive skinned horse watch your dose. I have a horse that is very sensitive I use less & make sure it is spread out well on the skin.
Overall this is a very good product. I use less fly spray with this on my horses!
Has this ever been used on donkeys?
Laurie E on Jun 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: YES! I use this product on my two donkeys (1 a standard, but on the small side and the other a large standard), and my 2 large saddle mules as well. It works great. Donks and mules have more trouble than horses with fly biting and I find this product to work rather well. I do have to reapply, though, but not more than the specified time on the package. And I do use one entire prescribed unit on each animal, smaller or larger.
Can I use this product on my miniature donkey? She weighs about 300 pounds.
susan b on Jun 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I would check with your veterinarian regarding this question. You certainly don't want to overdose her but you want to make sure you're giving her enough to do the job.
Does your horse stomp his feet after applying the spot-on treatment?
A shopper on Jul 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: some horses are reactive to the chemicals in this product. when I apply it to a horse for the first time, I usually dab a bit on a shoulder area and wait about 15 minutes.(if they react I have soap and water near by to wash it off immediately.) I have had hives, and other reactive behaviors. my average is about 1 horse out of every 25 or so. I do also have a few horses that just do not like the wet feeling, and get a bit restless when I apply it. I usually only put it in the mane and dock of the tail. I personally have not found it more or less effective when I also put it on the feet. I generally found that it works very well for about 2 1/2 weeks and if I need to, I re apply again at that time. this product is better then most of the other horse spot treatments and works on much more then mosquitos.
I have horses that like to cool off and drink from our pond, is it safe to use this product on them? I did not want to contaminate the pond.
Barbara T on Sep 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The fly spot-on dries on the horse, absorbs in the skin, and is water resistant. My horses drink and water from ponds and go through the river after the application dries and there is no problem. It continues to repel flies for 2 weeks and they safely drink from the water.
Is this safe for pregnant mares?
Annonie M on Jun 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: My reproductive specialist vet said it was okay to use on my mares but I recommend that you call your vet. Also, when first applied, many horses itch for a few minutes in the spots where it was applied, so don't be alarmed: it is not a harmful reaction. Always consult a vet before using any product on a pregnant animal.
I have multiple horses that are stalled together and they groom each other. Would this product be safe to use in this situation?
Susy S on May 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: My horses are together in the pasture but placed in separate areas at night. I place this on them at night because so I can monitor them for any reactions. In the morning they are placed back together for the day. They do groom each other and I have not seen any problems.
Can this product be used on dogs?
Marge on Jul 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: NO...there are other products for dogs.
I think, but I'm not sure, the mixture is much different for horses versus dogs versus cats...
SIZE is the first thing I think of...my horse weighs 1200 pounds, my dog weighs 120...(no worries, he is a Rottweiler)
