I needed a feed thru fly control and this price was good for what the product does. I don't like Farnham because their knowledge and customer service is lacking, but there are not so many choices in this type of product.
Bonniesue T on Jul 14, 2017
Great value. Better price than my usual source.
Cherie B on May 7, 2017
Very easy way to do pest control. My horses eat this w/o question.
d4rides on Mar 17, 2017
Works great on fly control...since my horses graze feed thru was the best way to go.
LINDA B on Feb 3, 2017
Flies are out of control at our barn in spite of daily mucking, and fly spraying, fly predators and fans. I just have to do something to help our mare. She has little fly bites all around the coronary band on all 4 feet, and some abrasions from her scratching them!
Dee P on Sep 30, 2016
have been using this for years. easy and it is part of my fly control along with preditors and manure management.

I am late getting on board trying to get rid of flies. Mostly need to see if this will work then I will be prepared for Spring.
JANICE P on Aug 30, 2015
I've used this or Simplifly for the past 6 yrs. Works better than Fly Predators. I feed 1/2 scoop am and pm, so all manure is treated. This is more successful than just 1 scoop daily, so the other 12 hrs worth of manure would not be treated and flies could breed and mature in it. My vet + farrier agree this is working for fly population control.
NANCY R on Aug 5, 2015
I have used this and it seems to help with other fly control

We keep our three horses at home and don't have any horsey neighbors so between Equitrol, a barn spray system and daily stall/paddock cleaning, we don't have any flys either! I have used Equitrol during fly season since it came on the market. It works!
MARGARETE B on Nov 30, 2014

Is it safe to use Equitrol if you have chickens free ranging around the horses? Will it affect the eggs?
Jennifer W on Jun 1, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The pellets are completely ingested and then digested. Chickens mostly eat the bugs around the manure and not so much the manure. So my guess would be, it should be okay. I think horses absorb sprays into the skin and their systems too, so in my opinion it would be about the same. I am not big on chemicals but I do use this and it has helped a lot. I wish I could give you a better answer instead o an opinion.
how much to ship ?
A shopper on Jun 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: OH DEAR!. I don't still have that record, but can off some thoughts. Make sure you shop around. Check the various suppliers, and put the stuff in your cart, right up to "submit" to get your total cost from each to find your best price. We've used equitrol for over 15 years, and have found significant price differences. We buy it in a 50# pail now. Also, check out Simplifly. Farnam makes that also, It's the same stuff with the same ingredients. Don't know why they are doing that, but they are pushing the simplifly over the Equitrol now. Hope this helps.
is this product alfa based?
S T on Apr 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Here are the actual feed portion ingredients: Wheat Middlings, Dehydrated Alfalfa Meal, Calcium
Carbonate, Sodium Chloride, Calcium Propionate (preservative).
Is there an expiration date given on package?
A shopper on Jul 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I never looked on the box for an expiry date, as I use it up too fast. I do believe the product works, it is not a 100% effective, but it does minimize the fly population. We live in So. Cal. so flies are abundant and anything to minimize them helps, and I have compared summers with and without Equitrol; summers with Equitrol the flies are not nearly as abundant. So buy it, use it all, and don't worry about the expiration date.
Does this work as well as solitude|?
A shopper on Apr 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: We've never used solitude - but I have to be honest. We've decided to not use feed through fly control at all this year, and spend the money that we would have spent on it on horse fly spray. Absorbine makes some GREAT fly sprays, and we've been VERY pleased with their products. My daughter especially likes the blue sport spray and uses it not only at horse shows, but around the farm.
Is there a risk to dogs who eat the horse manure from horses eating Equitrol? Any special risks for Dalmatians?
Mary S on Mar 31, 2015
BEST ANSWER: My own dog, a corgi, did not get sick but he was allergic and was having skin rashes. I can't say for sure about Dalmatians but if you're at all concerned look into more natural alternatives for feed through fly control. My previous employer made me buy it for their horses, so honestly, while it didn't harm anyone I still am not wild about the chemical aspect of it. I can't be certain either how effective it is. Do check with your dog's vet.
A shopper on Mar 31, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have fed Equitrol during fly season ever since it first came out. During that time, I have had aussies, corgis, doxys, jack russells, bouvies, and "mutts." All have loved meadow muffins and have not had any ill effects from eating them except for green teeth! I would check with my canine vet to be sure. Margaret
Is this product safe for nursing foals?

Is it safe to mix in with feed for foals?
Sherry E on Jun 23, 2014
BEST ANSWER: There are several weight lines on the measure cup You would have to feed each foal separately, as it goes by weight. It is very palatable, and even my finicky eater loves it. Since it only affects fly eggs, with a growth inhibitor, and it is safe at all stages of pregnancy ( via label)
This is my first time using this product, and I have noticed such a dramatic decrease in flies. The only thing that I wish, is that I wish it would keep the may flies and horseflies away too.
I am very pleased with this product! :)
Is this product a pellet or powder?
Amy P on May 8, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This is in pellet form.
