Old horse poor results
I've tried most everything to keep weight on my 35-36 year old Arabian. This didn't work either. I have been able to at least keep weight on my other now 36 soon to be 37 year old by adding Rice Bran Meal to soaked hay pellets for him.

So far it seems to be working. My horse has only been on it for a short time so time will tell.

Add diluted molasses to encourage eating
I've been using 2 scoops morning and night with full 12% pellet grain ration. My rescue would eat the mix the first few days with water to help it stick to the grain without settling to the bottom. After the first few days she began to refuse the food so I began to use diluted molasses(50molasses/50water to keep sugar down) mix Weight Builder in and then mix into grain so it would stick and encourage eating. IT WORKED. Only thing is I haven't seen a big enough weight increase on the horse to say it helps increase weight. She has more energy (not hot) so it helped her spirit. Can't say anything about hair coat condition as it's winter and most winter coats don't look great to me. She has free choice brome hay, water and mineral lick. Maybe it just doesn't work for her.

Used in the past
I'm trying to finish another product that has been giving my oldest oldie the runs so I can start him on this product and see if it makes a difference. I used it for 2 months before on another horse that was 200 pounds underweight when I got him and he gained muscle and good weight and had a healthy glow.

Weight Builder is the best!
After being diagnosed with Cushings, my 28 year old senior horse could not gain weight. Even though on medication his coat was still dull. Since I have started him on Weight Builder he is slowly gaining weight (I give him 8 scoops a day, as the Vet said as long as he doesn't get diarrhea he's ok). Well his coat is so shiny now! He loves it and will actually eat it by itself!

it works!!!
I have a 32 year old quarter arab gelding that we have had trouble keeping weight on for the last couple years. This added to his senior feed has brought his weight back up. He likes it and licks his feed pan clean.

Great product
For such a small amount used in with the daily senior feed this really works. The old pony was a bag of bones after last year's winter and is looking and feeling much better. He runs and kicks up his heels as though he were a youngster again. So glad I tried this!

This product has proven itself in just a few weeks of use adding weight to my friend's horse when no amount of hay , grain, beet pulp and oil could do it. It is remarkable. The weight is not gut weight. It is in the hips, neck and shoulders. This horse is the pickiest eater on the planet and the Farman Weight Builder is gobbled up without a fuss. I highly recommend it for hard keepers and pricing is the best I have found anywhere. Shipping cost or not!

Old horses needed to gain weight. I didn't notice much difference.
They were 36 and 34, and the older one passed away in Dec. 2015, it may
just have been his time.

I justwould like to know if it in pellet form or powder form?
A shopper on Feb 28, 2014
BEST ANSWER: it is a powder form, but not a fine powder, your horse will enjoy the taste my two do, I just mix a small amount of water and small amount of their grain mix in with it and they eat it right up.

BEST ANSWER: The product label shows this is safe for all classes of horses. We do always have to recommend that you check with your mare's veterinarian as well.

What is the dosage for a 25 in. mini horse who needs weight?
Hayley H on Jun 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Please view the link to the feeding instructions.
can you use this for dogs?
A shopper on Feb 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I am not sure. The container does not mention canines. Additionally i think it is pretty sweet and may not have the right protein structure to help a dog gain weight. Works well on horses though.
Does this product make a younger QH Hot and spooky?
JAMIE S on Mar 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We gave this to our 13 yr old QH/ Friesan cross. We had her on a pretty heavy dose. We did not see a change in her temperament, but if anything she was more calm because she was feeling better, not being so skinny and underweight. She is a older horse, but I wouldn't hesitate in putting my younger horses on it.
Fat content of this product?
A shopper on May 29, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Listed as 40%. Easy to feed and doesn't cause colic issues the way grain can, or diarrhea the way too much oil can. This has kept my 27 year old Thoroughbred going great.
Is it safe for a filly?
shawna h on Oct 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have been using this product in my grain rations since Sept.2000. I use it on weanlings through my aged senior horse. It is cool calories so it does not winded them up while I am trying to supply the necessary calories for growth, work or survival (high needs of the aged). It has been very palatable, easy to digest and utilize for my horse program.
Is this safe to use for a mare in foal?
A shopper on Jul 31, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Personally I would check with my veterinarian. I have only used this for my older horses that have a hard time keeping their weight up. It's very palatable.
