This was purchased for a horse who does not like to eat hay off the ground...and to hopefully keep the stall cleaner. It's been up for about a week now and so far so good. I was a bit concerned at first as he does like to rub on things - this doesn't seem to be one of them. The down fall is that it will only hold about 2 flakes of hay. It'd be nice if the opening was larger to add more.

So easy to load.
Bought one of these a year ago, for a stalled mare and it has done great. Easy to load and net lasted over a year with daily use. Was able to use a regular 1" hole net to replace the year old one that finally got a hole in it. Slows them down and holds about 3 flakes. Like them so much I have bought 7 more.

Hay feeder is as represented
Feeder was easy to install and fairly easy to load. Have only had feeders for a month but so far they are holding up well.

Easy to use and slows down eating
Once you figure out from the pictures how to mount it is easy to hang. Easy to load 2- 3 good size flakes of hay and really slows down their eating. The net has held up well so far. Perfect for stall or out in run in shed. Quicker than filling and hanging a hay net all the time. Very happy with them and will get more when they go back on sale.

Decent, worth the money
Cons: not the easiest to use, almost need two hands. Net doesn't allow you to put more than 2 larger flakes. Pros: very good for everyday stall use, overall nice design, seems durable and serves it's purpose of slowing hay consumption.

Great, at first
These worked great at first, until my mule chewed a huge hole in the nets. Lasted about 2 weeks.

Great product
I bought three of these last year. I was waiting to review them to see how they held up. I"m loving them. They're easy to load and they've held up to a year of using every day and still look like new. I've paid way more than this for other styles that I don't like as much. I really like slow feeding. I have easy keepers so this makes their hay last a little longer. I'm here to buy three more!

Why did you choose this?
Horse.com Store
Have been using hay nets with great success for my "easy keepers" a/k/a "overweight" horses for year or more, reducing hay waste by hundreds of bales, but also slowing down their consumption. Have been using the frame to fill nets finding it faster and more convenient. With the new barn liked the idea of being able to fill the nets right in the individual stalls with the collapsible wall feeder.

I really thought this would be a good feeding net. My gelding ignores it. I don't know why. he eats from a different net, maybe he likes blue better!

Need to stop wasting Hay...

Nets are the best way to go. Feeding bags and plastic feeders have clips that always break or don't stay closed. This is easy to load, fold up and done. No fumbling with trying to open a traditional net.

How high do you hang this? Does the top close or attach to the wall? How wide is the opening? Ilike the idea but the opening looks very small! tnanks Rhoda

BEST ANSWER: We purchased one of these a couple of weeks ago and plan on purchasing more. The opening is perfect for dropping flecks of hay in, then we simply lift the frame up and hook it on the furnished latch so that the frame is flat against the wall. This feeder actually comes with screws (so many items do not!). The instructions state to hang the feeder so that the bottom of the netting is at least a foot off the ground, which we did. (It is a good size net too.) The horses seem to like it. When we notice the net is empty, we flip the netting up in the frame (a small deterrant to keep one of the horses from pulling and chewing on the netting). We have five horses, and now that we have seen how these work, and how well, I plan on purchasing one of these for each horse. Hope this helps!
Why can horses use these with shoes on?
A shopper on Jul 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: My guys don't wear shoes. They don't seem to paw at the bag because it is high enough off the ground.
The only thing I would warn about is not to use the nylon nets. The horses seem to not like them and chew through. I found a cotton net which they like. The best seems to be to take one of the hay bags and loop it through the top of the hay hoop with a cord. They can't destroy it and seem to like the bag.
It makes it easy to put the hay in. I wish they made specific hay bag for the hoop.
Can the net be replaced easily?
Debbie N on Dec 20, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I haven't had to do it yet but it seems like it will be easy to do. Depending upon the horse, some nets are holding up better than others but I still think this is a good product and works well.
Can the horse pull the hoop back down if it was an aggressive eater?
Lauren S on Dec 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: There is a metal latch at the top that is long enough that it would be extremely difficult for your horse to open back up. If anything, it could be ripped off the wall first before being opened. We have ours attached to a piece of wood that is attached to our sturdy metal fence and have had it for over a year with no incidences. Hope this helps.
how many pounds of hay will the net hold?
A shopper on Jan 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It comes with a small slow feed hay net. Hold approx 3 flakes of hay (not sure of weight). You can change what type of hay net you put on it. I have adjusted the hay net used to fit the horse. I absolutely love this product. No wasted hay.
Is the net a 1 inch?
A shopper on Aug 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Assuming you mean 1 inch opening. I think it's a bit bigger than and inch. The horses do have to work for it a bit. But it's not like a nibble net opening. It's wider than that.
Do they make a bigger one for more hay ?
A shopper on Nov 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: you can easily attach a bigger net at any time
